[QUOTE=StrykersPerson;3801241] I would never use one on a new family member until after all other resources have been exhausted.

Are we still talking about dogs?

I used one on SE early as she was chasing the landlords cattle. For the tree huggers, there are two options for this behavior, a bullet or an e collar. Didn't take her long to figure out that you leave livestock alone. 2nd and most recent, she bolted from the schutzhund field and I just knew I was going to peel her off the highway. She spooked and when they are in that frame of mind, they won't listen. She had just finished a blind with a runaway bite, sleeve was released, she dropped it, I said here and that was all she wrote... She loves protection work. But she spooked and had she had a collar on, it wouldn't have been the ordeal that it was. We started with an e collar the next week on the lowest of stimulations. I want her listening. I don't want her thinking. And here means here and platz means platz. You will not find a more effective way to break undesirable behavior. I treat trained my other Doberman and she figured out if there were no treats, she wouldn't work. I had to cheerlead her to get her to do anything. I use a lot of praise but I will never have a runaway again. If she never learns anything else, I insist on here. Very black and white. NO grey area.
