Talking My Doberman Statue Came Today

Yep. It finally came, ordered it about a month ago. I'm going to put him in my garden next in the Spring when I re do all my flowers. I debated to paint him, but I'm not too sure yet. So this will be a poll to to help me decide whether you guys think he would look better painted up like a Doberman! Anyways check him out.

Were you thinking of a professional painting him/her? Or yourself. If it was a pro painter I would say go for it, unless you are a really good painter..lol

Were are you going to put him, at the front door??

I think you should just box him up and mail him to me. Decision done.

LOL. Is it bronze? I'd leave it if it is or wait till next year and see how you like it with the sun shining off it and if you don't like it. Paint it then.

I voted leave him alone

I have a lifesize concrete dobe that was painted and to look nice you need to repaint often (mine really needs a paint job!)

I don't get it.
You say you ordered this statue ~ a month ago...
and yet month ago you were on this same forum complaining that your vet wouldn't take a post-dated check and you couldn't take your dog into the vet because you couldn't afford it?
Interesting priorities. I guess mine are a lot different in that if I was having a hard time making ends meet, and couldn't afford medical care for my puppy, I sure as hell wouldn't be buying an $87 (plus $9 shipping) statue for my garden.

i would leave him bronze tone.if he's going in with flowering plants,he'd look better bronze. if he's going in green plants, you could do either or and it would look nice. i personally think the bronze tone is more classy.lol

I am ordering a plain cement one, to put in flowers as a memorial to our Dobes we've lost. I think, yours being bronze & all, I'd leave it & let it get a natural patina.

I think it would look good if you paint him.

Instead of painting, try to polish him with bronze or silver cleaner, I think that would look nice...

Your new statue is beautiful! I love dobie statues and my dream is to have two life-size cement ones to place outside my front steps. I voted to leave yours alone. Last year I got a statue from my sister for Christmas which could have been painted and I chose not to. I loved it the way it was and was afraid I wouldn't like it as much if it was painted. It is made of a different material but here is a photo of mine:

For your information it wasn't 'priorities'. I wanted to take him to the Vet that DAY!, who said I wasn't going to have money the same week? I know I didn't. I just didn't have the money that day. I got paid I think the following week, so you can shove it!!! I ordered my statue on a payment plan anyways, I haven't paid for him yet. And my Vet is an a$$hole and I'm sticking to it! He recently just ripped someone off of $500 for God sakes!! And a few dogs have died in his care from miss diagnosis! So I'm currently looking for a new, BETTER Vet. Just because your a Vet doesn't make all Vets out there good ones! And He sure in hell isn't! There is a woman Vet there now that comes in now in again from up state New York, so when I schedule I make sure she is planned to be my Vet. So stop being my finacial advisor, my dog is always my number one priority, ALWAYS. Otherwise I wouldn't have been so damn determined to take him to the Vet that day! You can ask anyone that knows me personally, ANYONE! And they will always tell you I put my dogs before anyone and often even myself! That settles that, funny how some of you step out on a limb to talk sh*t you don't know about.. *seriously rolling my eyes*

I am sorry PCL, that you feel the need to react this way but..

From this thread:
Quote:
And my Vet is an a$$hole and I'm sticking to it!
From the other thread:
Quote:
When I said my a$$hole Vets, I meant the Vet's office, the women up front!
---

From the other thread:
Quote:
And I don't spend any of my money on material things, I can't even remember the last time I bought something for myself other than my dog!
---

And lastly... I know this is from the other thread but..

Expectation - to consider probable or certain <expect to be forgiven> <expect that things will improve> b: to consider reasonable, due, or necessary <expected hard work from the students>

Quote:
I was upset not because I expected my vet to just do that, but because they have for me in the past for lesser things than what I wanted to take him in for and I've been going there for going on 4 years
Quote:
Oh God... I didn't just expect him too, I never said that, I said he had done it for me in the past so I figured, AND I never even talked to him I talked to a girl that that was running the desk
It certainly sounded like you expected (by the definition) him to let you post date a check.

---

I am NOT trying to pick on you, PCL, and I don't think reddobes is trying to be your "financial advisor," I think reddobes was just making an observation based on your previous thread. And, sorry to say, I agree with RD solely on the idea that this was a bit of an odd choice.

Julia, I don't know why you jump in every single time either, I don't care if you agree with reddobes, I invite you to come see my Doberman, hes living it up! Why the hell does anyone care what I buy? I thought I'd post for everyone to see, and you damn right I will react the way I do when someone tries to tell me that I don't care about my dog, Anyone who loves their pets would react the same way. How dare anyone to tell me that he is not my # 1 Prority. Would you let someone try to tell you that you don't care about your dogs?! I'm not getting into it about the Vet again, I explained everything in that thread, so thats that. The Vet is scum, not because he wouldn't take a post dated check, but because he keeps screwing up! If you had any idea what he just done to my friend you would think he was scum too. For any of you who think I'm not taking care of Daemon, consider coming to see him, and then, then you can tell me whether I care about my dog! You people are crazy, I honestly think something is wrong with a lot of you! Oh my God, she ordered a Doberman statue and a while back she didn't get paid yet so couldn't take her dog to the Vet that day, Horrible horrible me, I apoloigize that I don't have money shoved up my a$$ 24/7. I work my butt off handicap and all, so try living one day in my shoes and telling me I don't love my dog!!!

1.) Nothing's wrong with me, I'm not crazy.
2.) I never said you don't love your dog, did I? It's very obvious you do!
3.) I don't have money 'shoved up my a$s' either. I work, just like every other responsible non-leeching 19 year old should. Just like I've been working since I was 15. Ask me about the last time I got anything handed to me for my dogs or myself.
4.) Sorry if you feel like I'm telling you that I think you don't care about your dogs, because you're 100% wrong about that. I know you do.
5.) It's a nice statue. And leave it as it is, it'll be a pain to re-paint it.

My opinions are my own! Im not here trying to win a popularity contest. Im still curious on how this thread relates to the other? I dont recall PCL asking for financial advice or Financial opinions in either of them.
