I will make this quick. I am a wreck and need my DT friends to support him.

At 7pm Niko was mouthing and drooling I thought he swallowed something he shouldn't have and it was stuck. I took him outside and watched him he seemed fine with the exception of the mouthing and drooling.

Brought him back in, he was on his rug by the door, I sat with him looked in his mouth etc. Nothing. The mouthing got worse, I called my husband over and Niko started to shake stiffen and made a couple of horrible sounds.

I can not explain this to you any clearer than I thought he was dying. We all witnessed this terrifying event. May 11 yr old is not doing so well, it was very traumatizing for her...traumatizing for all of us.

We took him immediately to the vet who witnessed another seizure at approximately 8pm . They did what they had to to stabilize him, watched him a bit and sent us to emergency.

As we pulled into the parking lot at approximately.... I don't know what the hell time, god love him, he had another one. We saw it coming the mouthing and drooling again. My baby, he looked like he was dying, my daughter ran in to get help. They took him away and immediately took care of him, meds IV etc.

3 in less than 3 hours. I lost track of time.

He is there now blood work will be done to see if there is any issue physically. They are calling it Grand Mal "Cluster" seizures unknown etiology.

My Himmy, please pool all your get well thoughts to him.

We are very emotional right now. I have no concrete answers yet. I just had to come here and write this down. I love him. I am a mess, I can't, i just can't wrap my head around this.

Cathy

That is so distressing a thing to go through.
will be sending prayers and light that whatever it is, it is transient and doesn't cause him any problems.
I'm sure the vets will do all they can for him. I hope they have some answers for you soon.
((((((hug))))))

I am so sorry. I hope it is something that doesn't happen again. It is weird if he has never had them before, that he should have 3 in such a short period. I wonder if he ingested something. He doesn't have a history of it, so I hope it is something external that caused it and that he is recovering and that it never happens again.

Hugs to Niko and you and your family! Keep us posted.

I hope your baby stabilizes tonight. These are hard to witness. I have a couple of clients that have a history of seizuring when they are groomed (firecrackers, thunder storms etc). When the "cycle" can be broken, meds can work really well. The one owner has witnessed several and finally knows she has to stay calm around the dog. I am glad that I have vets & techs around so that we can treat the dogs. On both dogs, they are grand mal incidents. I hope all goes well 2nite. Hugs.

Oh no, so sorry to hear this.

Huge vibes for your handsome red boy.

Ask them if they can send off some blood for a full thyroid panel, while they're pulling the other bloodwork stuff.

There seems to be some evidence of links between "idiopathic" seizures and thyroid malfunction, so it ought to be ruled in or out, okay?

I assume they'll be checking his heart and just his overall health, to see if anything seems amiss or jumps out as a possible trigger, too.

Gonna be a long night, sorry.

One of the worst things ever is to watch a bestest red boy seize...and not be able to stop it for him, ask me how I know :-(

I mean this sincerely--I'm up all night anyway, flash flooding going on here, so if you want to cry on somebody's shoulder, PM me and I'll send ya my number.
