Angry Eyes Rolling Back?

Hi all--
My Doberman has been struggling with his eyes rolling back in his head lately, and it appears to be out of nowhere. Does anyone have any experience with this? I noticed him staying really still (while standing) for about 4-5 minutes (which I think is kinda long), so I went over and guided him to his bed. When I looked at his face, both eyes were closed and he wouldn't open them. It scared me so we drove to the Vet ER. They irrigated and did the laceration test saying "no lacerations, cuts and no foreign matter in the eyes. They left us with eye drops for the outside inflammation on his left eye and some pain medication (I don't know why.) After 5 days I stopped both but noticed for a bit each day, the left eye closes or rolls up again. What is going on? Other than this he is healthy and there have been no situations that would have caused this. I am at a loss... and really disappointed with the vets we have, as his current vet, nor the animal ER could give a reason. Maximus is 8, and hasn't had previous eye issues before.

What did your vet say about the possibility of seizures ? I'm no vet, but I would think that eyes rolling up and not moving for a few minutes could be a seizure.

If you can find a neurologist within driving distance, I would find out what it takes to get an appointment.

Some specialists require a referral from your primary vet, some don't. But, personally, that's the route I think I would pursue.
