Wobblers surgery using Adamo Disc?

Wondering if anyone has experience with this procedure. Our 8 y/o boy was dx last week. He is improving with steroids, but it seems from all I've read that is Fool's Gold, and will not last. He is otherwise healthy and strong, vWD clear, no DCM. I like the idea of the Adamo option because it has a short recovery time, and minimally invasive. The clinic that diagnosed him doesn't do this type of wobbler's surgery, only the "old school" kind, many hours on the table, and prolonged recovery time. I have emailed the neurologist at Ohio State who is supposedly a wobblers expert, but not heard anything back from them. I've looked through this board, but didn't find anything on Adamo surgery other than just brief mention.

Many thanks to anyone with info. We live in the midwest, and will drive him to a surgeon with some experience with this procedure once we find a good option.

Good morning Hawk - Hate to hear about your bubby ! If it was me - I would give them a call at Ohio State - And Since you live in the Mid-west - Might even give Purdue Vet school a call - I had a question not long ago and gave them a call - they answered my question on that call - I don't know if they do the procedure you are talking about - but may worth a shot .

Best of luck !

Thank you for your response. Colorado State does this surgery, and they are the only place that answered my email. Of course, the neurologist couldn't get into any medical advice, but did let me know what to do to get in with them to see if he is a candidate for this surgery. I scheduled an appointment for him to be seen there first part of Jan. For now, he is responding well to steroids, but I know that will likely change. He has even wagged his nub the past 2 days or so he is feeling so much better. Fingers cross we can keep him in this remission until his eval for surgery. Trying to carry him when he could not walk and was crying out in pain was the absolute worst day of my life. I do not ever want to get there again if it can be avoided.

The reason for my question is because a few years ago we had a male at same age misdiagnosed as Wobblers by the first vet we saw, but after a second opinion and an MRI it was discovered that he
had a crushed disc that was repaired with surgery. I cannot remember the name of this particular surgery without looking it up. I can do that if interested.
