We are out a few weeks back on the water and I got quite a bit of sun but did not think to much about the Red Boy. I did notice about 5 days later his nose had become raw where the fur and nose meet. It has since healed up but the skin is now a much lighter color but it seems OK.
I would like to protect this skin from any future exposure and would like some recommendations on what would be wise to use for this area?
Thanks
You could probably use the "mineral" sunscreens - i.e. the ones that are titanium or zinc based rather than "chemicals"- that would probably be easier on his skin. He will look cute with a little white on his nose!
For an isolated patch like that even plain old zinc oxide ointment works. But I'm incined to agree with Radar on using one of the zinc based human products (better than titanium based) and if you have a choice pick one for sensitive skin.
Basically any of the human grade products work--sensitive skin formulas are better for dogs since some of the products used in human formulation will actually irritate dog skin.
Thanks everyone , maybe a Zinc oxide with a red color would work with the color scheme since his vest is red and we run with Mercury ob. I will see how the Burts Bees work plus we can share. Thanks for the Link John.
