Baltimore area DCM study

I am passing this along for anyone in the area that wants to advance the identification and treatment of DCM in dobermans. Unfortunately, I volunteered my dog to participate in this test but they found some abnormalities in his heart health. I will now be pursuing a more conventional round of monitoring and treatment if necessary. Thank you all at the Doberman Forum - after learning this, I have been educating myself on the site as I didn't realize what a big problem this is.

The Johns Hopkins Center for Image-Guided Snimal Therapy (CIGAT) is conducting a study with the goal to develop a therapy for halting DCM. They want to use Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy to detect heart disease earlier than holter and echocardiography. They are looking for Doberman volunteers which have recently been evaluated (echo, holter) with healthy/normal findings and are 2-6 years old. In the first phase of the study, they are baselining healthy Dobermans using a series of specialized tests which take a few hours to complete and require general anesthesia. There is no cost to the owner for the procedures. If you're interested, you can reach out to Dr Rebecca Krimins at cigat@jhmi.edu.
