I started a thread like this a while ago, with Burns posting a really neat video of her brushing Red's teeth. You should do a search for the thread, if only just to watch the awesome video lol

Back to the original question ... i try to do it at least a couple of times a week, though i have been lax lately

Ah sorry Khiera. If the mods want to take this down, that's ok by me. I'll search for the video now.

No, no, no, why are you apologizing? Threads on similar subjects get started over and over all the time, which is actually a good thing because the post turnover is so high on this board, and there are always new members all the time, so there's always discussion going on on topics of interest!

Plus, you set up a poll too and i never did, statistics are always interesting!

Ok those videos are awesome. Red is such a sweet guy, but the cat video ... that blew my mind. Lawless (one of our cats) would have ripped Burns face off! We have to sedate him before he visits the vet. And even sedated he's pretty much a safety hazard. (Poor black cat was rescuted as a kitten around Halloween in Salem, Mass -- the witch capital of the US. Who knows what people did to him!)

Thanks for posting the video, Khiera

Marvelgirldobe, Titus (the brown tabby cat in the video) actually LOVES having his teeth brushed, and actually begs for it every night. I've got him brainwashed into thinking its the best treat in the world. And you might be shocked to see what he is like at the vet - here is a short video...

You are like the Beastmaster (mastress?) or something! Titus reminds me of a little black kitty I know and (sometimes) love. Though our little man will attack my wife 48 hours AFTER the vet visit just to remind her of how distasteful he finds it.

haha well, I do work with cats all day every day for a living... Thankfully, Titus is back to normal once we get home, but the two cats sometimes have displaced aggression on each other after going to the vet. It doesn't last long though. Then he wants his teeth brushed again Funny little creatures, aren't they?

I used to brush Jack's teeth a few times a week. More if he got into "kitty roca". YUCK breath!!!! He would run outside through the dog door but would stand there as I approached, toothbrush in hand. He even let me brush his tongue! A small price for him to pay to eat cat #$!*

Voted for once in a blue moon, but I brush every month or at least twice a month. Looking at other dogs teeth at the dog park even inspires me more to brush her teeth. Some dogs teeth are hideous OMFG! I can't stand dirty dog teeth.

ps. I lost Kleos toothpaste so I haven't brushed in a while now rofl bad bad daddy

I never brush the dobes teeth. I make sure they get plenty of marrow bones the chew.

I do use a scaler if they did to have their teeth scaled.
But for the most part, the marrow bones keep their teeth nice and clean

I brush Jasmine's teeth about once a month. But she also gets lot's of raw meaty bones that keep the tarter down. After owning a Greyhound I am forever watchful of tarter problems!

Diesel doesn't mind having them brushed, it's actually kind of funny. If I don't do at least once a week, he reminds me I forgot, because he is rubbing his gums along the carpet. As soon as I brush, he stops.

The only teeth I need to brush are the canines. Even though I feed raw and give meaty recreational bones, the outside of the canines don't stay as clean as the molars/pre molars. I brush them as needed, which isn't too often - maybe a couple of times a month.

Almost never brush dog's teeth--dry kibble and chews seem to keep them fine, though I have occasionally scaled the canines (in a previous dog).

Speaking of cats though, we have to keep our own personal toothbrushes put away or our cat CHEWS on them. Think she's trying to tell me something??
