Looking for reputable breeder in springfiled mo

I am so glad I found this site. I bought from a byb and now my baby has to be put to sleep at 3 years old because he has Lymphoma. I am glad I found this site as my husband wants to get another baby and I found out on this site (I will not mention his name) that I would have picked another one. After doing research after Cesar was diagnosed I found out the breeder we bought him from was fined $10,000 dollars for animal neglect and is still breeding. We bought him a year after all this happened. I wish I had done my homework before. I love my boy and am happy for the 3 years we have had with him but wished it could have been more. I don't want a 5 year replacement guarantee, you can not replace a family member.

Are you looking for show or working lines? Any plans for the pup? How far are you willing to travel?

Check out the below link as well as the dcpa and/or udc breeders lists, they aren't 100% full of quality but there are some good breeders on them.

I'm in Springfield, MO. Please be careful when looking for local breeders. There are a lot of BYB in this area to watch out for. And I do mean A LOT.

Melissa Smith is the only Dobe breeer in the immediate Springfield area who does any kind of health testing on her dogs but you'd need to ask her directly about it. She also shows her dogs in UKC and IABCA and a little AKC.

If you're willing to expand your search to within a few hours there are several good breeders I can recommend.

Old Drum's Crimson Crisp CGC, "Fiona" 04-21-2009 - 01-15-2018
Old Drum's Fiery Rumors of Taliesin CGC LC-10D, "Tali" 05-09-2008 - 08-19-2018

Sirai's Novel Weapon TKN, AKC S.T.A.R. puppy, "Cypress" 05-08-2019 -
AKC/UKC CH Bur-way's Unscripted CA TKN, "Dempsey" (Rat Terrier) 11-04-2014 -

We are just looking for a family member. I will not breed. We live in the country so I am looking for a jogging partner. We checked out the adoptions but as I work days and my husband works nights not sure how we would arrange a home visit. We will drive as far as we need to. We were willing to drive to Columbia every three weeks for chemo, but from everything I have read and talking to the University he would be on chemo all his life

These breeders are all relatively close.

Missouri
Old Drum Dobermans in Harrisonville, MO.
Sho-Me Dobermans in St. Louis, MO area.

Arkansas
Promise-Olympia Dobermans in Fayetteville, AR.
Tropix Dobermans in Rogers, AR.

Old Drum has a litter on the ground now, but they're all spoken for. Though you can still contact her for referrals to other breeders she may know of who have a rehome available or have upcoming litter plans.

I gave them LeeAnn Hunnycutt who works for Melissa Smith. LeeAnn has a nice litter now. Sired by Bristol. Real cute red girl available.

I have a doberman from Melissa. She does have a litter and she may have pups available still. I cannot tell you enough how great she and her daughter are! They are extremely supportive and helpful!

Im not sure where to send you for your search, but I can say I was not impressed with Drury Lane in Willard. Let me know if you would like the details of my visit.

I went the route of rescue and found a shelter re-home.

LeeAnn is very nice. She helped me with posting Fiona's ears for a bit.

I see a lot of Drury Lane Dobermans through my training club and I concur with Rams. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

Thank you. I did see his website but seen on here someone had issues with them to. We are going to contact Leeann today. As that looks like our best hope to find a quality healthy puppy. Everyone her is so great and very helpful. I was not sure I wanted to go the Dobie route again, but I have my husband hooked on the breed. They are so lovable.

Can you fill me in on your personal experience with DL Dobermans. We were thinking about getting one from here. I notice your post was from 2013, but would love to know your thoughts.

Hi Dobs, welcome to the forum.

Unless things have changed, Drury Lane Dobermans doesn't do much health testing.

There are several other reasons I wouldn't recommend or be interested in Drury Lane Dobermans, but the minimal health testing is a major and immediate deal breaker for me, personally.

Where are you located? I'm sure members can provide some additional breeders for you to consider.
