New Member(s) - Breeders Advice Needed

Hello Everyone,

My Boyfriend and I have been looking into adding a puppy to our family. We have looked into multiple breeds to see which one would fit our lifestyle and Energy level, and by far a Doberman from a show line would be the best/perfect fit. What made us decide on the Doberman breed was the beautiful balance of elegance, playfulness, protectiveness, and stoicism. It seems like this balance will lead to a more than loving new family member.

We would like to take our pup running and camping. We enjoy hanging at home and do not have any other pets or children at this time.

We are in talks with the DPC of Las Vegas already. Unfortunately, talks are going very slow, and we would like your opinion and advice as well.

We live in Las Vegas, but we are open to visit breeders all over the Southwest (also Canada's AB). We are looking for a Show Line (for temperment), and preferably European (for bulkier look). However, we are open to American Show Lines as well. We would be looking for a Male (for temperment and size).

Any recommendations on reputable breeders would be VERY MUCH appreciated, as we feel stuck and lost.

Thank you,

There are only two breeders in Las Vegas registered in the DPCA, one of which has been out of operation for some time, and the other does not respond to our emails. As for the UDC, none of the breeders is nearby or have upcoming litters - we are willing to wait, but for a reasonable time (until mid-ish 2021).

Are there any conformation shows coming up in your area open to the public? You can look on the AKC events search. Going to shows is a great way to talk to doberman people and get connected with a breeder.
Upon your advice, I checked for conformation shows on the AKC website. Unfortunately, none are planned for this year, which is understandable given the COVID 19 situation.

What do you guys think of looking into out of state breeders that would deliver ship?
Are there reputable breeders that agree to ship/deliver that you recommend looking into, and applying with? any recommendation/advice on that front?

Once again, your feedback is much appreciated

If I was in your area I would reach out to Eve Auch of Irongate Dobermans. I've met quite a few of her dogs, and have met Eve several times in person. She breeds dogs with great temperaments and has excellent longevity and health in her lines. I wouldn't hesitate to get a dog from her and had her on my (very small) list of breeders I'd buy from for many years. Her contact information should be on the DPCA page. If she isn't planning any litters she may have someone out there breeding a dog she co-owns or bred.

Thank you very much for your recommendation. It seems like Irongate does not have a website, but I found Eve's contact info on the DPCA website. We sent her an email, and we are very excited to hear back from her.

Per other members' recommendations, we will try to follow up by phone if we don't hear back.

Eve Auch is definitely one to check in with--she always has waiting lists but is a pretty active breeder and her dogs are wonderful. She's actually in Truckee, CA. And I actually know her.

I looked to see you the DPCA breeders that you found in Nevada were--there aren't many that are listed in the DPCA breeders list but I know three out of four of them--and wondered who is no longer breeding because I thought the three I know were still active.
They would be Kim Lovett--Gemini Dobermans, Holly and Steve Schorr--Pennylane Dobermans and Lisa Buroff--Winmar Dobermans.

If you've tried to contact any breeder by email and not had success I'd try by phone--some breeders don't respond to email as readily as you might think.

All three of these are also good and reliable.

Good luck with your search.
