Blu-J Dobes Breeder Experience

Does anyone have any experience with Blu-J Dobes breeder in Binghamton NY? They have one Red female left from their litter and we are very interested. They seem great and I am getting all my my questions answered well, but can't find any reviews or anything on the breeder so just figured I would ask here! Thank you!

Hi joni and welcome from the Pacific NW!

BLU-j Dobermans have been discussed here on DT before, I believe. No real conclusion, if I remember correctly.

So go to the "search" feature at the top of the home page and enter Blu-J Dobermans and hit go.

Best to you in your search for a puppy...

Absolutely a quality breeder. Maybe I will check on that pup

Do you have any information on who the sire and dam of the litter are, health test results, and titles? Blu-J's has bred some very nice Dobermans in the past, but I don't have any idea of what they have had out in the show rings lately ..... partly because I've only recently begun showing one again myself after not having a dog to show in 5 years.... so I'm a little behind as I have not been to very many shows until now. I am also in PA - so do tend to see what is out there locally.

I know Blu-J's only by reputation--which has been excellent. However when you said that Judy Crowley was in New York I looked back in some of my old DPCA catalogs because I thought Blu-J's was in Pennsylvania and I had noticed that Mary Jo (Fitzmar) thought the same thing.

So I did a little further digging and Judy and Blu-J's were listed in the Breeder's Directory up to and including 2017 but always in Pennsylvania--I'm missing 2018 which is the year I gave up my membership in the DPCA but I do have a 2019 Member Resource Directory and in that one Judy Crowley is listed only in the membership portion and with the New York address.

I had thought she had been rather less active in recent years and I know that some of my older breeder friends have basically retired from active breeding--no longer keep kennel facilities and have moved with one or two dogs to places closer to family. Maybe that's the explanation for the move and dropping the breeder listing.

She's certainly bred some lovely dogs over the years and if she is answering your questions and has records for the bitch of her health stats and those of her parents I wouldn't hesitate to get a Doberman from her.
