Hello! I am new to the doberman community and have been researching breeders for several months now. I live in Nevada but am willing to travel just about anywhere on the west coast for a HEALTHY boy. I am finding it hard to find reputable breeders that do all of the proper health testing that are currently breeding, it seems as though when I finally find someone who seems to have high standards, they rarely breed. Any recommendations? Thank you so much for your time!
Welcome from Florida...hold tight ...I am sure our westerners will be chiming in soon..........
Glad you came to visit us.......best darn doberman resource in the world !!! Welcome!
Great breeder to talk to. A good place to meet breeders and get some leads would be to go to an all breed dog show. If you go on the akc's site you can use the events search tool to find shows in your area.
And we really (or I did anyway)forgot Eve Auch in Truckee, California who is a Doberman judge, also a judge of WAE tests and has bred for many, many years--lovely dogs--she tests and show in conformation and in various performance venues (which she said recently she's getting too rickity to do everything)But her Irongate dogs are well known and she's a very nice person to talk to--she still travels a lot so probably would want to e-mail first to find out where she is.
Everone I listed in the Meadowcat link and Eve, and Dawn can be found on the Doberman Breeders section on the Doberman Pinscher Club of America's site.
My Champion male is breeding to a local Champion female in May/June. Both health tested and then some. We are both of the minority that does full blood tests before breeding, on top of the required cardiac testing and everything else. Although both have their champions this will be a breeding of more working dogs in the IPO/agility/obedience type of area.
Do you have a wait list? The main 'purpose' if you want to call it that, for my dog, other than companion, would be a service dog. I have several health issues that limit me in certain ways and my previous dog did an amazing job at aiding me.
