Wishing Well Dobermans

Hello!

Please delete if not allowed.

I am looking to find out if anyone has any experience with or may have heard anything about Wishing Well Dobermans (positive or negative) out of Strykersville, NY? I am considering one of their puppies.

Thank you so much in advance.

I noticed that too...is that indicative of anything? I found them on the DPCA breeder page. It says they have been breeding/showing since 1995.

Some of their dogs are on Dobequest. They are titling them. No idea on health testing - you'd need to ask the breeder.

If it's this one? https://www.facebook.com/WishingWell01/

If you're talking about Joyce Zamrock, I know at least one person who has one of her dogs. I would consider her.

If you knew the names of dam and sire, you might find someone here knows something about the breeding.

Doubt it...probably just means they aren't maintaining their webpage or haven't renewed the domain name or something. Lots of good breeders have poor websites or even no website.

You're much better off talking to people who own their dogs for references, talking to the breeder for information on health testing, finding out which dogs are being bred, researching the pedigree (a good breeder should also be able to help you with that).

Please welcome my boy Tyrion!

Please ignore the absolutely LOUSY ear posting job. I have never done this before and I am going to try to repost them today with better materials. Practice will make perfect...hopefully!

Hi Soni

What a handsome boy...

About the post... Actually not bad for a beginner!

Me?..
I would use less tape.
If you are going to bridge, I would place the ears somewhat wider. You have them vertical.
Generally a 10-12 (clock hands) spacing is considered ideal by a lot of people. I would also lower the bridge to just above the skull.

If you have not read/seen member greenkouki's visual tutorial on posing ears, please do. In my opinion, it is the gold standard for contemporary ear posting.

https://www.dobermantalk.com/ear-cro...acker-rod.html

Best to you and your pup.

John

BTW. Maybe I missed it, but does he have a name yet?

So I took off (laboriously) the tape from Tyrion's ear posts. Mind you, it was a lousy post...BUT I did it with the breeder standing over me and instructing me on how to do this, every step of the way. He was fixing my "work" as I was trying to figure out how to do the posts. I was LOOSELY taping, as he kept telling me to do.

THANK GOD I unwrapped the posts today, just now! There are 3 sores, two on the inner "leather" flaps, one on each ear, and one on one of the natural folds near the base of one of the ears.

ALSO, I found that the ear the breeder did has a healing major cut at the top. He must have snipped off the tip a while back because it looks as if it is almost healed. He did it so I could not really see what he was doing.

WHAT DO I DO?? Do I re-post my baby's ears today? I have neosporin that I put on gauze and placed on the sores. Should I go ahead and continue with gently trying to post his ears with the neosporin gauze laid over the sores?

I am so upset, especially since I know I did not cause these sores. Again, I thank God that I took the posts off this evening!

Last question, how do you get the tape off easily? I had to resort to using a little bit of baby oil to get the tape loosened. Thank goodness he is such a sweet and easy going little guy. He was so patient with me.

Any help would be so greatly appreciated! Please do not bash me for not realizing that there was something wrong with the way the breeder was doing things with me. I am soooooo upset right now. I cannot stop crying.

Please post a photo if you can. Sometimes it looks worse than it really is, and often, sore spots can be avoided and the rest of the ear can still be posted. Sores can happen for a number of reasons- tape too loose, tape too tight, wet posts etc. This is why posting a photo of how they were taped will help.

For removing the tape, unisolve is the best thing out there. Here's a tutorial I made for taking the posts off

Do not worry ...do not cry.
You are not the first owner that has experienced this....
First ...take a deep breath....and realize everything will be OK.
Leave the posts off .....and take some pics for us......if there are sores it will not hurt to leave the posts off until we can look at PICs and help you. No medicine now....let them air out......until we can see what you are dealing with.......
FYI....I remember crying ....and feeling so alone with this process....but lucky you......you have us !!!!
So.........enjoy your puppy tonight ..get us some pics and we will figure this out ..............

For removing the tape, unisolve is the best thing out there. Here's a tutorial I made for taking the posts off

Here are 4 photos
The ones with the longer "scratch-like" looking sores are on the leather parts of his ears, one on each ear.
There is also the roundish sore on the natural fold of his ear.

Finally, I took a photo of my baby's head. You can see how badly someone snipped his right ear.

I just want to make everything better for this little guy. I am so attached to him right now, you would not believe.

THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH FOR YOUR INPUT. I honestly don't know what I would do without your help. It is 8:15 at night and I am freaked out.

After looking at the photos, could you please advise me if I should post, or not? Also, should I glop on neosporin if I am going to be posting?

THANK YOU!

Here is his head shot.

Should I buy gentler tape? Perhaps paper tape?

I have my coat on and will sprint out the door to get some right now, if you feel it would help.

Again, I am so GRATEFUL FOR YOUR HELP. THANK YOU
