Sick Doberman Puppy
It looks like I too was fooled by Molly's room full of ribbons and seemingly trustworthy demeanour.
We got our puppy April 1st and within a day or two I messaged her asking if the puppy peeing every 10 minutes (Sometimes 8-10 times an hour) was normal or if we should be worried. She told me that puppies have small bladders and not to worry.
A couple weeks went by with no improvement so we had a urinalysis which indicated that she had a UTI as there was blood in her urine, something the vet was skeptical about since it was very rare for puppies to have UTI's that young. The vet warned us that this could be a deeper infection or something genetic. Thus we put her on antibiotics and still at the end of her prescription the peeing was extremely frequent and always dilute.
We told Molly about the UTI and Molly said "Well I stand by my dogs so I can pick her up and refund you. I have another family who just lost their doberman so they would be happy to take her. But I'll need an answer in a day or two maximum". This kind of raised some red flags for us since it was only 1 day into her antibiotics, and ethically she shouldn't be giving another family a dog that is sick without knowing if it was actually a simple UTI or something more, like the vet insisted. Thus we told her that we will hold off and wait until we have more answers as of course we'd like to keep our puppy if these antibiotics would work.
So we got a blood test and another urinalysis/lab culture done. The results indicated she had a strain of antibiotic resistant e-coli. The vet was even hesitant to put her on such strong antibiotics to fight it, and the mortality rate is quite high for puppies with e-coli. It is now 7 days into her 14 day prescription and we've still seen no change. I have had two different vets that 99% of e-coli in puppies comes from sick mothers milk, or unsanitary birthing/bedding conditions in their first few weeks. When we visited Mollies there were 3 females in a pen on the floor whereby she would just put newspaper over their poop and pee, the exact kinds of conditions that breed e-coli.
And while we paid $2500 for "healthy, premium line doberman", we have since incurred over $1000 in vet bills (likely much more needed still we're told) and Molly is no longer taking our calls or texts.
She is clearly shameless in her business practices. Thus if anyone has any information on the small claims court they have taken her to (I have seen numerous stories of such) it would be great to go to the same one so they have a record of her fraudulent ways in the past. We have also lodged a BBB complaint and another with the CKC. Would be very interested in having CTV news do a story as well if anyone is interested in hopping on board with that as I have contacts.
