Smile Noob wanting a puppy. Help please.

Hello all,

I am new to this site and have read many helpful posts. Today I had agree( only in principle) to purchase a red male pup from someone near Miami. Then I started reading the posts here and researching around the internet for reputable vets, when I realized what a mistake I was making. I was really anxious and excited just thinking about getting a new pup, but now I realize that I need help in finding the right one from a reputable breeder.

Does anyone know any reputable breeders that has a litter available for purchase as a pet. I live in Tampa so the closer the breeder the better.

Thanks,

Jimmy

There are a lot of good breeders in Florida. Check out the DPCA Breeders Referral list DPCA | The Doberman | Breeder Referral to start with and then when you select some that you want to visit, come back here and ask for opinions on that specific breeder.

Welcome to DT and good luck with your puppy search.

Everyone loves my puppy, but very rarely I am asked, how much you pay....sets me back though, when questioned:
- my standard answer is always $2,000 +/-
Then they ask WHY, last week puppies on Kijiji for $800 (??)...O'h really, I say politely !!
I say: $2,000 divided by hopefully +10 years equals, $200/year per prorated & health tested....cheap, without frequent Vet visits.

The $800 pup could be dead in 6 years and cost me 10 grand ($$), in its last final year.
Which is why, I buy a quality pup...much cheaper, in the end / and it won't bleed out, on the operating table or drop over from heart failure (early).

There are also a lot of great rescues if you don't want to deal with the ear posting, teething and housebreaking. A lot of rescues have puppies too though!

I got my boy from "Doberman Rescue of Lake Placid, FL" the first owners got him from a breeder for $1300.... I got him for $400! And he was already somewhat trained!
