Phantomwolf, any particular reason as to why you would not recommend this breeder? I would like to ensure that I am capturing all the "beware" signs when browsing online. Thanks
I will share what immediately struck me when I entered the website and I am guessing Phantomwolf may have noticed too:
Breeding multiple breeds - it takes a huge amount of time for a reputable/ethical breeder to understand their own line and research lines of other dobermans to find the most suitable match with their bitch, and breed in order to better the breed (health longevity, etc). There is no way in my mind that someone can do that when breeding that many different breeds of dogs.
I did not see any signs of health testing or titling on their dobermans. I saw the most basic of info, which most likely indicates they do not health test or title. Even for a "pet quality" companion pup, you want to stack the odds in your favor and ensure the parents (and multi-generations behind them) have been health tested and titled. This helps to ensure they will produce healthier offspring with sound temperaments. Dobermans are a very unhealthy breed in general, so again, you want to stack the odds in your favor by purchasing from healthtested lines.
Pay pal - I cringe every time I see a breeder offering pay pal. What this tells me is they do not care where they place their puppies and do not adequately screen homes of prospective buyers. They are in it for the $ and willing to sell a puppy to anyone. Ugh.
These are just my very immediate inputs based on a quick glance. I would personally run, run, run...
Just want to add, good for you for doing your research. I second the suggestion to reach out to Von Luka. Even if she does not have pups on the ground or near future, she can probably steer you in the direction of some other more reputable breeders in your area. Also, there are tons of reputable breeders in Oregon and Washington if you are willing to open your search up north.
