I would definitely keep posting the floppy ear--8-1/2 months is way too young to give up. One of my boys had almost finished his championship before I quit posting one ear that remained somewhat floppy.

It's very common to have one ear be up and standing perfectly while the other ear flopped in the middle-just takes longer posting for the floppy one.

The puppy I borrowed from a friend when I lost my 14 year old and who is headed for is first show in less than a week presently has a half post in one ear because it still kind of wants to be floppy toward the base--he can get it up and keep it up most of the time but we really want it up and pretty solid for the show. So he'll stay in the half post on that ear until the day of the show and I'll put it back up if it needs it the next day.
