In my personal experience, clicker training has been extremely effective with my Dobe. The click gives him nearly immediate feedback ó he knows right away whether he was "right." If he wasn't right, he knows that too, from the lack of a click. The clicker has helped him learn new behaviors very quickly and to become very confident about what I want from him. It's an excellent communication tool. With that being said, it does take some practice on the handler's part; timing is important. When in doubt, assume it was your error, not the dog's, and give a free cookie for your mistake
Thank you so much to everyone for your input! From what I had read online about clicker training and also about Dobermans, it seemed like a natural fit, but was looking for some firsthand experience
Loved the video of the GS, because it gave me a visual of what it looked like.
Canít wait for our new puppy!
