I am a dobe pup who has just turned 16 weeks,. I have a female cocker spaniel who is just a wee sweetie and 5 yrs old.. they both get on very well, they play in the house all the time. my problem is i take them up the golf course at night where i live and let them both of the lead for a short spell. the pup is slightly taller than the cocker now and she is trying to grab the cocker by the back to the neck to play and doesnt seem to give her a minute. i would like to break this habit before she gets any older, any suggestions please?

Unfortunately you are dealing with the way Dobe puppies play. And the cocker is getting beaten up by a puppy who will soon be much bigger and stronger.
I'd keep the puppy on leash rather than turning her loose with the cocker until you have taught her a solid "leave it" while at home in controlled situations. Or better yet, take them out separately to run on the golf course (I'll bet the course keeper loves you) so that the situation doesn't even come up.

Its nice that you let them play off the lead. I suggest that if the cocker spaniel was being hurt by your doberman then she would have told him to stop by now. Dogs will be dogs, and as long as it is just play and not aggresion I would just leave them to sort it out between themselves

Doberman s play super rough in comparison to other dogs I always kept Buddy(Doberman) on lead when he and Patches(dachshund) were in the yard together.Buddy finely grew up I can now turn them both loose in the yard but Buddy has heard easy, she is little,be careful all of his life around Patches.
