TomAndKing will become famous soon enough
King has slept on the bed, and under the covers since day one. He even has aa pillow...lol. He will usually come to bed, chew on a bone for a while, then beadbutt me to get under the covers. If i have fallen asleep before that, he will go lay down somewhere else.

King sits/sleeps where he pleases. Most of the time he likes to sit in my chair, but he knows that when i want to sit down, its time for him to get up.

Hmmm, maybe this is why he has no confidence...i baby him too much.

When my husband travels, cody would be in bed (on top of the covers, but somehow managing to get my pillow before the night was over) with me all night. When Jason is home, I usually go to bed first and Cody would curl up with me and then Jason would send him down to his bed for the night.

there are no beds big enough for a 6'4" husband and a 90 lb. dobe who HAS to be in the middle.

Cody has one favorite couch when he is home alone, unless our bedroom door is open, then it would be back on my pillow. anyone's lap was always a good second choice. He preferred cloth couches over leather.

We got our Doberman on Tuesday. He sleeps in his crate thingy at night. I work night shift and I got home late this morning (Friday) at around noon. My two smaller children were napping and I walk in my bedroom to find Maximus on the bed with my husband. I said "What is that??" He said, "THAT is a dog." "Why is Maximus on the bed?" "Because it is comfier up here." I can assure you at the dog was picked up and put on the bed because my children have to pull and climb to get on to the bed because it is so tall. Hopefully this will not continue..... His crate has my best blanket and good padding. My husband decided that wasn't enough and gave the dog MY bed pillow and one of our kids' baby blankets! SHEESH

As for the furniture, in alignment with all of the puppy training I've read, I said Maximus would only get on the couch if invited. I worked nights the last two nights and so after sleeping today I get up and Chris is showing me "all these cute pictures he's taken with the digital camera of Maximus on the couch" and "its so funny how he has to get on the couch because he has to claw his way on to it" and how "Maximus and the kids laid on the chair and watched Power Rangers".....sigh....."Chris, does the dog just GET on the furniture or do you invite him? He needs to know that its for humans and he can come up when asked. I don't want him jumping on guests (if we ever had them) especially if they're scared of dogs." "Invite him? What?"
Oh brother.

Good parent/bad parent

1. Sleep in bed with you.. No, When we got our first dog pit/boxer he did but then he kept hogging the bed so AT the moment none of our boys sleep with us. We will see how jack is when hes older. But at the moment the two older dogs have TWO couches to choose from to sleep on and jack sleeps in his doggie bed. which will be moved to our room when he gets house broken fully.
2. Favorite couch? Oh yes. We have two couches and a sectional (two recliners and fold out bed style), At the moment the dogs arent allowed on the sectional (i have caught my self and have had jack up there with me 2 times already). But for a favorite couch for the older dogs it would be the germany couch that is old style green plaid thing. they are allowed on the other couch but prefer the germany one. As to jack he doesnt have a Fav yet. as long as he is next to my feet or close by.

Here's a fun one to see how spoiled our dobies are. My bet is that they are....

Do you let your doberman……

• Sleep in your bed with you? Do they sleep on top or under the covers? When did they first start sleeping in the bed? Or do they have their own bed?

~One sleeps with me and they sleep on top. just started a while back yes they have both as well as their own bedroom.

• Sit/sleep on your furniture? Do they have their favorite piece of furniture? How many have leather couches? When did you first ley them sit on the furniture?

~sleep/sit on furniture... they have a Chair and sofa of their own we are getting micro fibre. they started when they were like a couple months here.

Snickerdoodle,
This post made me reflect on your conversation with Kratty and I in the chat room. I remember we both agreed that it sounded like your male was getting mixed signals from you as the pack leader and that could be (at least partially) part of this aggression problem you are dealing with. Allowing him access to your bed and furniture could be sending him the wrong signals. Of course we all know dogs that are fine with this and don't try to usurp their owners as head of the pack; however, a particularly dominant dog may take these gestures out of context and "think" they mean that he is in charge. I would rethink allowing him privileges like sleeping with you or being on the sofa with you and especially sleeping with and on top of you until you can speak with a behaviorist...

Da'Kari goes to bed first and then we have to drag her off the bed to go into her crate which is right beside my bed. It's like she becomes a two ton log LOL she will not help, she makes us work her off. Sometimes we let her stay in the bed at night, what we are doing is letting her sleep with us occasionally and most of the time in the crate. Hubby has to get up really early in the morning (4 a.m.) for work and so he says he doesn't sleep good when she is in our bed so usually on the weekends she gets to. What we are hoping to do soon is get her a nice doggie bed to put beside the bed to sleep on and hoping she will stay there but I have my doubts. Nash who is only 11 weeks old is still in the crate at night in our bedroom also, so right now the room has two large crates, it's getting crowded LOL

Da'Kari has always been allowed to lay on the living room furniture. Again Nash is still young, he is being crate trained and when resting he is in the crate. Eventually, when I know he is pretty much house trained he will have run of the house through the day and I am sure he will be up there on the couch as well.
