I have 5 brothers and 2 of them are avid dobie lovers and one of them would take Sabot....my mom may even fight them for him, lol....Paris is too young to have bonded with any of them but I have no doubt in my mind that one of my family members would take her in...although they would never be as spoiled as they are here..well except maybe with my mom. Plus my boys are old enough that wherever they went (probably with their dad) they would insist that Sabot go with them.

  • If for some reason you and your family household are unable to care for your Doberman, what do you plan to ensure they are cared for? (Could be due to finances, illness, or other circumstances).

I have no living family any more but the dogs are all co-owned with their breeder--specifically with the possibility in mind that something could happen to me. The reality (even though the breeder would re-home the dogs appropriately) is that they would in all probablity go to my very good friend along with my residual estate (estate!--that's a laugh but it would be enough to take care of the dogs and the cats through their life time) which is willed to her. She knows all of the dogs well--runs them in agility for me and again, the reality is that they are as much hers as they are mine.

  • In emergency situations, where you have to be away from your Doberman for many days or weeks, who will take care of your Doberman if your immediate family members are not around

I have reciprocal arrangements with a couple of friends--we trade dog sitting and they would figure out how to spread the dogs around until I got back. Someone (of the several people who have keys to my house) would come and feed the kitties and clean litter boxes at least every other day.

A few times when I have had plans to be out of town and I had a sick dog or cat they went to the vet clinic where I work (in both cases they were elderly and needed a lot of care and were on meds)--the folks at the clinic know all the dogs and the cats and I left them with specific written permission to make decisions on my behalf about what was best for the pet that was there.
