More legs

This past weekend (Fri & Sat) we went to our 3rd trial. We now have 3 more legs.
2 legs in Novice B Standard and one in Fast.
Open was fun and our runs are improving--can`t ask for anything more than that

I love Fast. This was the first time I entered this event. Anyone here feel that way? I love plotting my own run, getting enough points and beating the clock. I am addicted to this particular event. I love to strategize.
This is the first time I ever entered it and I only signed up for Friday. I will always enter Fast--I guess I will be a Fast Junkie.

Fast is a course that is set by the judge with different obstacles--jumps, weave poles, A-Frame, teeter, dog walk, tunnel.
The obstacles are given a numerical number. Depending on the number can be in value from 1-10. Some obstacles to obtain points can only be entered from one way.
In addition to that there is a Send area (this is taped off and you (the handler can not pass the tape, but you must direct your dog over the objects in this area--points are a lot higher in this area--especially if you complete them, you get bonus points. You must accumulate at least 20 points in the send area) Points needed in Novice Fast is 50.The time you need to complete the course in is determined by the size of your dog and the yardage.
The idea of Fast is to test the skill timing and some distance work in a game of strategy and point accumulation.
It is really fun.

Awesome your having fun! I cant wait to run Karma, but I have a strict rule of training a year before showing. Although I do compete with one of my Italians and have done Fast. I always stress and freak out trying to figure out a path to get all the points but its so fun. One time I had Blue spin around a pinwheel 3 times just before the clock buzzed, was pretty funny.

The only thing that annoys me here, is alot of the clubs charge more than $5 for it, they charge what the second run would normally cost. That I dont think is to fair being it donest really contribute to the dogs MACH. That and it adds silly letters after your dogs name that dont go away. Hehe, so now theres a NAF after Blues name. :| If you like that you may want to check out some USDAA shows, (i am pretty sure its usdaa) They have more game type runs, and they have a Gamblers course that is similiar and other ones as well. Always meant to check it out, but they dont have as many shows like AKC.

Tamora & I trained for a year also. Its a good rule. Plus I won`t jump a dog until growth plates grow. Not worth the risk.
As far as charges I paid what a second run would cost--I think it was $11.
I really didn`t mind.
I know it doesn`t count towards a Mach--I just used it as a training run. Set my course and did not deviate from it. If we followed it the way I plotted it, I considered it a success. Icing on the cake was that we got a leg.
