Fixing a droopy ear in New Mexico
Hi! I was wondering if anyone knew of a vet in Albuquerque or the surrounding areas who works with Dobie ears. We recently rescued a lovely female whose ears are cropped, but one goes up and one does not. They think she's about 2 years old, so I wasn't sure if posting them would do any good. I will probably try posting them up first to see if that does anything, but I'm letting her settle in first before assaulting her with dixie cups and popsicle sticks. It has been several years since I had to deal with ears (my older Dobie is 9 years old, and her ears came out perfect on the first try), so I could probably use some help.
If there's anyone else out there on the forum from NM, I'd love to start a conversation anyway! We have 2 Dobies now, and it is by far my husband's favorite breed. (I love Dobies too, but I don't really have a favorite breed, I love dogs in all their flavors!)

First, thank you for rescuing!
At two years of age I don't think that anything other than corrective surgery will fix the ear. That being said, I"ve heard that, that kind of surgery isn't easily (or well?) dont by just any vet and doesn't always work. If the dog is not a show dog I, personally, don't see a reason to put a dog through the unnecessary surgery.
