I'm curious if anyone is familar with the local Tulsa area breeders? I'm looking for a family pet with temperment and health being most important. Does anyone know of any local breeders?

I think when someone from OK comes on looking for a new addition we usually advise them to look at surrounding states. I'm not sure there are any reputable breeders in OK. I may be wrong though, if so someone will correct me.

That being said, Texas has some good breeders (Rhapsody, Marrimac, Touchstone)
Kansas has KansaDobe.
That's all I have off the top of my head right now but there are some more.

If I looked at Oklahome breeders I would ask for copies of all health testing. Some promote it but don't actually do it themselves. If you are good with just VWD and OFA then they would be fine for a pet.

I don't think she is breeding any more but Shannon Elkins is near Tulsa is a UDC member - I know she does do complete health testing. DPCA breeder referral also has breeder listing by state so you could start there. Most DPCA members should be honest about their health tesing.

Maybe I'm reading this wrong but are you stating that if I want just a pet, vWD and hip testing are sufficient?

Diana Ray is in Collinville, Ok and has some very nice dogs.

Teresa Nail has a litter of puppies too and lives in Tulsa when she's not out showing dogs.

Both are DPCA members, show their dogs, and health test. I don't breed often and don't have pups at this time but these two come highly recommended. Shannon doesn't breed or show anymore. I also know that Bixby Rescue has dogs available.
