Following advice from a previous thread. I need help posting my dobie's ears. the vet apt is too far and I am afraid if left too long with posting it will get worse. Will link to previous thread.
If you can't find anyone in your area, take a stab at posting yourself. Take a look at the link; it's not really very hard, just awkward feeling at first. Even if you just get fairly close to what you want, it's preferable to leaving them down for 4 days.
I think everyone with a dobe and newly cropped ears should learn how to post the dog's ears--there are just too many times (ears get wet, post comes out, a little irritation develops that needs to be posted around, and so on) when the ears need to be reposted and waiting for a vet appointment is too long.
Oh--at one place these instructions say, "at this point you will need two people". I never had another person to help me with the posting--it's a little trickier with just one person, but not that bad, so don't be discouraged by that comment.
I personally like to sit on a footstool, with all my stuff cut to length and ready to use within reach. I put the dog between my legs facing away from me, and start posting. That gives me a bit more control over the dog--I can use my feet and legs to gently keep him in place, and my hands are free for the posting.
Request to moderator--should the last few threads of this be moved to ViciousMagina's other thread to keep this one a clean list of names of helpers? Done with impressive speed!! THX
What part of Houston do you live in? There is a dpca club in Houston and also several vets in your area that have dobermans. I use to live there.
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
