Relocating to Houston and struggling to find a place to live in a safe neighborhood that allows dobermans.

Anyone know of any good buildings that allow dobermans?

There are some very pet friendly complexes I've found but they're also very expensive (I think my favorite so far has been One Park Place located near Discovery Green, though their smallest 1 bdrm 1 bath starts at $2,400). I'm moving to Houston in May/June from Galveston so I haven't done any nose to the grindstone type digging for a new place yet.

hi all i currently have a doberman and living in an apt for six months now, since she was 6 months old (she is now 1 yr)

TIPS:
-try to see if the apt requires you to do a walk - in interview of the dog
-if submitting a photo is required, take nice Zoomed in or zoomed out of the dog
-be super friendly to management, keep a good relationship
-last tip, i plan on doing if i have to move (not bkuz of dog related issues), is to not move-in to the new place with a dog and later down the weeks, say you have a dog, and to stop by to put a pet deposit, and etc. that way hopefully this skips any dog inperson interviews, HOpefully. my friend have done it with his two dogs which one is a lab.

hope this helps! :)

I can't believe this was the first thread that popped up when I entered the forum for this region, I have been googling "doberman friendly apartments houston" like a maniac and coming up with nothing. I presently live in an apartment called La Maison in River Oaks, Houston that has no problem with our dobe and has been a great place to live. The rent is high though (we've been paying $1430 for a 700 sf apt) and we need to be closer to my fiances work.

Now we are looking for apartments further west and it has been a nightmare. Our present apartment and one Camden property are the only two I have found to accept dobermans.

And about the Camdens, there are tons. Reviews vary greatly depending on the property.

All these bull**** breed restrictions have me seeing red. I would definitely recommend La Maison if your budget allows it. If anyone else has apartment suggestions, I would love to hear them! It would save me a lot of hair-pulling out :p

Just wanted to update that we ended up moving to Camden Holly Springs (in the Westchase area, right off the beltway). It turned out to be our only option, but we really truly lucked out because so far this place has been great. Granted, we only just moved in on Sunday but so far so good. They had to make some calls when we first came in to look at the complex to check with higher management that dobermans were allowed, and I think it really helped our case that Broo is turning 9 years old this month.
As far as reviews go, I think the main complaint is safety (vehicles in particular). I brought that up to one of the property managers and asked her about those reviews straight up and her answer was genuine and more than satisfactory for me.

So thus far, doberman friendly apartments in Houston:

La Maison (upper kirby, river oaks)
Camden Holly Springs (Westchase)
Possibly the Inverness but I have not confirmed myself that they allow dobes (very pricy)

Feel free anyone to add to this tiny list---I would love to save future dobe families who rent the stress and frustration we went through calling 30+ apartments and getting turned down 30+ times.

Keep me updated about how you like the place!

Currently I'm working with an agent looking for a house for rent in Pearland, Sugarland, or Webster. Makes it a 30 minute drive for the SO, AND a 30 minute drive to our raw food supplier, but that's honestly not too bad.

We have heard back from a couple houses and just need to go see them first (I like to make sure the fence is secure and has no escape holes) lol, even if they are supervised all the time I would hate to overlook a hole in the fence.

1 house we were approved with our dobe had these BEAUTIFUL renovation pictures. New hardwood and the like, well we went to go drive by it to check out the neighborhood. Omg. I about died. It was literally in the ghetto and people were using empty lots to dump trash! There was literally trash everywhere. It was so bad I couldn't find 1 spot to look in this neighborhood where there was no trash on the ground. Needless to say we have not talked to the agent for that house since then. He tried to be shady about his idea of the neighborhood too, essentially telling us "We just had to look and decide for ourselves" and "to some it might be a nice neighborhood and to some it might not." Mmmhmm.

We've called some apartments and we're approved with the dobe as well but focusing more on houses for rent right now. :)

I will update your list when I find my notes!
