animated avatars

Is it possible to enable animated images for avatars or just to allow them with a link to an outside site? I have a bunch that don't even come close to the 2mb limit.

You should be able to link them from an outside site already.

I have tried repeatedly and it keeps saying the same thing it does when you try to upload an animated image from computer..> "You may not upload animated images"
