I've managed to figure out how I can get a list of threads and posts by a particular person--is there a way to track down when that person is quoted by another in a thread? Other than reading the entire thread in question, I mean.

on some sites the searched words/phrases are highlighted or bold in the threads. Not sure if it works that way on this site, i rarely use the search function

If you search for the member's name in the "keywords" field (not the "user name" field) of the advanced search, it should generate results including the name within quotes if someone quotes them. Make sure you click the "show results as posts" option near the bottom to quickly sift through the search results.
