Website Problems and Solutions Thread

Now that I think I have the website back to it’s pre-hack state I wanted to open up this thread to any members that are still having trouble with the website or forum. I have gotten quite a few PM’s from various people with different problems that I have looked into and hopefully resolved - I havent heard back from a few of you. There may be other problems that I am not aware of yet. So if you have any trouble with the site or forum post in this thread and we will get them sorted out for you.

If you have a suggestion for the website or forum that you think would benefit the members then feel free to let us know your ideas. We are all ears.

On a side note you may have noticed that the website has been running very sloooooow recently, we have tried tweaking as much as possible but with our continuing growth I think we were just plain old out of resources. This afternoon you may have noticed the website was down for a short period of time that was because we were being moved to a new server. Our old server had 4 cpu’s and our new server has 8cpu’s so I hope our performance issues will be resolved for the time being

Thanks again for all of your patience and understanding over the last few weeks. And a very special thanks to all of those Supporting members out there, without them the recent server upgrade would not have been possible.

A lot of times, well actually most of the time, when I click on forums it just sits forever then times out. If I go to the recent threads on the home page I can access the different forums to the right without a problem.

Thanks for the reply it seems that most people must be trouble free with the lack of problems posted in this thread.

Your problem is a new one to me, how has it been yesterday and today? With the new server the website loads have come down considerably and everything should be loading correctly.

Hace you tried clearing out your cookies and deleting your temp internet files? It seems that by doing those 2 things almost all of the little odds and ends troubles have been worked out for alot of people.

Are you using IE or FireFox? I have noticed some other strange things when using FireFox to browse the forum but under IE it seems to be just fine.

not sure if the meebo profile was slightly changed or what. It's not showing up for me, maybe i just need to change some of my profile settings. Everything else seems back to normal so good job!

The current profile pages are set to the default for the forum software.

Which honestly, I prefer the default to those weird meebo profiles anyway... They were tempermental and hard on the eyes, imo. The default is much easier to read and more useful from a moderator's perspective. Just my 2c.

We were using a profile system called Zoints, as burns has said we set the profile pages back to deafult recently for various reasons.

With the newest version of VB currently out it inculdes a Blog/Profile/Social Networking add on that I am currently researching to see if it would be good addition to DobermanTalk.com

At first i couldnt sign in at all. So i re-registered. Now i come to find that all of my posts are gone. They werent many but im guessing this was due to this hack.

Sorry I didn't get back with you when you posted this. I must have missed it. The problems stopped shortly after I posted that and I haven't had an issue since. I do use Firefox because I can't stand IE. My cookies clear everytime I shut my browser and my temp files get killed all the time.

At the time it was doing the same thing like when you first repaired the hack and you couldn't get into your profile by clicking on "profile". You had to get into it by going through "user cp".

You're doing a great job with the forum, thanx

If I recall correctly he had to back it up to a restore point a couple few months ago. It must have been before you registered here at DT. I think everything in that time period was lost.
