Well it seems that we had another round of bad luck yesterday, after trying to fix some back end trouble from the recent hacking attempt it seems that I corrupted the Sql database yesterday. Hopefully we are back up and running now and I have sorted out all of the problems. Again I am really sorry for the down time I know how you guys need your DobermanTalk.com fix.
As some of you are aware on Sat 01-05-2008 DobermanTalk.com was “Hacked”. We have worked very hard to reverse the damage done by this but after 3 days of trying to get things back in order we finally had to restore from backup.
Prior to restoring from backup we checked each backup archive for the suspicious file that the hacker used to get into the site. We had to go back to 12-22-2007 to find a backup that was not compromised.
Any posts, private messages or photo gallery entries between 12-22-2007 and 01-08-2008 have been lost. I am very sorry for this inconvenience but there was no way around it other than to restore a compromised backup file. I feel that a few weeks of lost posts was a better solution than to possibly restore a suspicious backup.
If you signed up for a Bronze, Silver or Gold membership between the above dates I will be restoring your account status manually very soon.
If you registered a new account between 12-22-2007 and 01-08-2008 your registration was deleted and you will need to sign back up.
Again we are very sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused and we are taking every precaution to be sure it does not happen again in the future.
So sorry you had to spend this extra time on the system. Any idea where the hacker file came from? Maybe a disgruntled 'greeder'??
No it was definitley not someone with a grudge against us, we were trageted along with ALOT of other sites that were running the Gallery software that we have.
Just curious - is the first time hacking occurred on this site? Also, unless I just haven't researched the threads, a recap of the forum history would be interesting info - ie when it was established, etc.
What a bummer!!! These problems are a pain in the neck, so time consumming. I just wanted to thank you for providing such a wonderfully well-set up and easy site for all us Dobie lovers. The site has provided a wealth of information for me and I have met some really wonderful people. Having the site down just reinforced my feelings. I missed my fix. I did visit the site during the time that you were down, so I guess I will have to try and repost my entries. Thank you and keep up the good work.
