| Both ends of "Thanks" Dear Site Moderators/Owners:
As I posted here regarding "Thanks," this is intended to speak to a person's reputation on a given forum. It should speak to the value of their posts as well as to the manner in which that post is received.
vBulletin offers an alternative to "Thanks" called "Reputation." With this feature, one can not only give positive reputation, but also take away from a user's reputation if their posts are viewed as having an "agenda" or being somewhat "snarky."
Perhaps the use of this feature would be a better representation of how posters are viewed by the community as a whole.
Just a thought...

| Is this in response to Murreydobe just agreeing with you on the korbella thread that you took as such a personal attack?

I honestly believe both ends of the spectrum should be reflected -- some may find a given user's post helpful, others may find it not so helpful. Using the full "reputation" feature reflects both sides of a given coin.
And if you must know -- this thread and post was a work in progress -- open in another window when I chose to respond to some private messages I had received on my Korbella post. Had I stayed focused on the new thread, it would have posted up either before or at the same time as Murreydobe's post which I now know did not come across as intended.

| Actually DT does record reputation by thanked posts and used to provide the number of thanked posts statistic in the Avatar section. Perhaps they can bring that feature back. They also reward the "green boxes" for reputation as well. If you point your mouse to the group of "green boxes" there is a statement about the user as well.
You might want to contact a moderator to get the full scoop but I think they have this already covered very well actually.

| | Alpha | What about the perpetual victims, who go out of their way to find insults when none exist? They've got their own agenda going on-why should anyone support them in perpetuating it?

| Dragonman -- Actually, the feature I was referring to not only shows postitive thanks, but also less than favorable opinions through "red" boxes on a user's profile. X number of red boxes takes away from your green.
Different feature.

Different feature. | Sorry I don't agree that "In Da Dog House" marks or "red boxes" should be displayed publicly. They are between the moderators and the user in question not the entire board. Adjustments in "green" reputation points are may under the discretion of the moderator when a "red" box is issued.
In all honesty it sounds like you are looking for a way to label the negative rather than to genuinely ensure appropriate reputation designation. I think the system we have in place is quite fair.

Just a thought... | We actually had these features at one time. To be honest, I'm not sure why we don't anymore... Will look into it....

| I do also think that if we had, to quote dragonman, in da dog house boxes we could never be sure if the less than favorable opinions were nothing more than a 'personal venddeta' This is not aimed at you DobeMomToo rather to everyone on this board
