| Went to the show Sat and Sun and watched the dobies in ring 16. Lot of great dogs showed and Fifi was on her game. Lots of fun and Roxy came home with a new collar. | |

Does the BBE exclude her from the overall categories or something? Found it hard to fathom she didn't at least win the working group (of course I'm not biased at all).

Again, sorry for the dumb questions | Select is a new thing done by AKC to obtain a grand championship. Basically the second best dog and second best bitch in the breed.
Best bred by is for the dogs that are breeder/owner handled in the breed. Last year since Fifi got the breed she automatically got it. This year since Andy got the breed and he didn't breed Ana they look at other dogs. Best of opposite sex wasn't bred by the handler so they look at selects. (If best of opposite sex was breeder/owner handled he would compete against the breeder/owner handled bitches. He wouldn't automatically get it. Same with Fifi competing against the rest of the breeder/owner handled males if the select dog wasn't.) Later they do best bred by in group then best bred by in show which Fifi won.
Hopefully that makes a little bit of sense. It's hard to explain and even harder to understand!
