Really interesting thread, you guys - I really enjoyed and appreciated it. I gotta say that Southern California, or at least San Diego, is an extremely political and exclusive (in the negative sense) place for dog people. If your Doberman does not come from here, or 1 or 2 places the local club knows and likes, then your dog might as well be a mutt... it can be from to-die-for lines, but the pettiness and "good old boy" (or should I say gal) attitude leaves little doubt that unless you kiss some ass and do hand stands, you'll stay an outsider. We are looking forward to a new puppy that we can show - the type we like is a blend of working physique and elegance, and the bones are bigger, heavier than the delicate and fine and pointier Dobes we see out here. I know it may be harder to finish a dog like that under those circumstances - but we'll do it, and giggle all the way. Lois

I hope my "entertaining" comment didn't come off as minimizing or dismissive. I used the word because I found myself hitting refresh to see if you had more information to share on this topic, and I figured if I am hitting the refresh button, then I MUST be entertained.

Incidentally, while some people may disagree with your perspective, I don't think anyone can take offense. I for one feel you have expressed yourself passionately but respectfully. And I for one thank you very, very much for being so informative and so genuinely concerned about the topic being discussed.
