How old is he? He is really cute. Its a small world. Patrice is the sister of Sharon who showed Cole to his championship.

Brownie looks great! Are you talking about showing him in Durham in October? I thought they were NOT doing conformation this year? I could be wrong though.

What a handsome red dude he is! When he comes up on leg again it should free up room for his BIG chest and then it will not interfere with his elbow placement as he moves. I look forward to seeing him as he matures.

Is Patrice Sharon Marinellis sister? That is interesting!! She should definitely know her Dobermans then

[quote=BackInBlack;186665]I use a Nikon D40X.

Like I said, I know alot of you are shaking your heads thinking I am crazy.......but it is worth a shot to me. QUOTE=BackInBlack ]

That is what is most important what you want to do with your dog. Hey I am sure you are well past the what if they think I am crazy attitude, who cares. Writing or telling constructive criticism is one thing negativity is another, I know you can pick out the positive and work with it. So what if he has working lines, and not bred for years for that look, whatever that look is, as Rhett Butler would have said "Quite frankly my dear I don't give a dam". No dog is perfect, no matter what any championed owner/breeder will tell you about how great their dog is. It is the whole look and attitude the dog has. There are some yes if you want to use the term are straight pet, obvious to all, good looking but just not enough as a whole. Your guy is gorgeous and if he keeps going like he is and prancing with the look at me attitude, I will not be surprised to see you post his wins here.
He has a lot still going for him then some of the already championed dobes I have seen put up. At times I have to pick my mouth up and be polite when I see some wins.
Don't give up after a few tries, it is not always the dog, there are so many other facets to the showing, political, the breeder in the area that wins wins smoozshes with the judges buys drinks, lunch etc. there are some that just don't like reds, or they just like a certain look, I suggest you go more to shows and see what judges like his type of look and the ones that wouldn't put his type up if the dog beside him was even missing teeth, three legged and blind. Because sometimes I think the judges are.

Good luck, have fun, and put the pics up along the way please.
P.S. he isn't exactly chopped liver ( excuse the pun)

I think his elbows have gone in alot since those photos. Before, his feet were perfectly straight, but his elbows were out. Now it looks like his feet point out just a tiny bit, but his elbows are in. I guess it will all straighten out in the end? LOL.

I also think his eyes are getting darker.

Yep, that is her. She is SO sweet, always willing to help. She is helping me not only to look at Brownie, but to learn about Doberman conformation and movement in general. She calls Brownie "Big Brown" LOL, like the horse.

Even though I would say my interest lies more within the "working side" I think having a good general knowledge of conformation is good for any Doberman person.

Thank you waiting As long as he continues to grow up well, training goes well (i.e. will stand still, allow people to go over him, will show his teeth) AND as long as he still enjoys it...... I am going to show him. I also do not want it to interfere with his Schutzhund training. Things like waiting to teach focused heeling......I have no problem with. There are a few weekends of shows in September, October and November that I am planning for. I don't think I will ever show him myself (maybe in UDC) but I will put him with a handler and see how it goes.

Worst case scenario: He does awful, he hates it, and the judges dont like him.

All of the above......I can live with. His home will be on a schutzhund field and I am not to worried about his ability for that

I missed this thread too.
I like these pictures of Brownie better than the last one. He looks more put together to me. You will learn a lot, sounds like you already are, and that is fun in itself. He sure looks like an outgoing boy!
