As we all know my dog is a z-listed doberman...she is my pet she is never being bred as i know that is wrong and not to mention the fact i dont have breeding rights nor a title nor health testing done on her.
Anyways here is my question, what is so wrong with showing a z listed dog in confirmation?
Why is it so shallow according to one person for me to want to put a confirmation title on my dog?
If i am not breeding this dog and i just want the bragging rights, what is the big deal?
I understand the point that it just perpetuates poor breeding practices and that some people will advertise that their dogs are champions so the fact that they carry the albino gene doesnt matter..or something to that degree.
So my question is it wrong to show a z-listed dog? Would it affect my chances of getting another doberman from a reputable breeder if i put a title on my z listed girl?
Thanks for the input, and i look forward to the responses. | You can show her in obedience, agility, etc. They do not want you to show her in conformation because white dobes are considered a defect basically, and since the conformation ring is basically for breeders to show their best to decide what to breed with, it is not considered to the standard. According to the standard there are four acceptable colors, black, red, blue, and fawn, and she is not one of those. Sorry. |

| I'm with Julie - if she meets the standard then go for it - it will be a good learning experience. I'm not sure how it will affect your chances of getting a new doberkid from a good breeder - one may question why you have an intact z-listed bitch...
You can however spay her and compete in agility, obedience, rally, flyball or herding (okay that one might be a long shot) to garner bragging rights. Personally just having a Dobe is brag worthy imo

| There has been a z bitch shown at a couple of shows I've been at. But....she is very much pet quality and it really makes the person look silly. She doesn't help by constantly talking about how BIG this girl is gonna get and how BIG her parents are. She draws attention to herself in negative ways.
"Most" dogs bred by someone who breed's "Z" dogs, are just not show quality and probably wouldn't win anyway. To me, it would make the person look bad to do it. Thats just my humble opinion though. |

| I may be wrong but I didn't think you could even show a white girl because it is not one of the accepted colors, so it is disqualified? |

| You can have a z factored dog that is a standard color- they just carry that gene and could produce white offspring.
Did I get that right? |

Did I get that right? | I think you are right. I thought the dog we were talking about was white. I guess you could show it, but it is an expensive hobby if there is no future in it. |

| I know nothing about the dog world- but would a judge know if a dog was z factored or not? If so, would they discriminate against the dog? |
