| | Alpha | RIP to a shelter dobe named Rosie Just want to pay tribute to my friend's dog if it's ok.. I promise I won't take long.
She was a strange red color, with some faded spots on her, and was very self assured, seemed to smile with happiness in her heart. I saw this dog only a few times but was never shy of me or growled even barked at me when I came. This dog now named Rosie was the dog I mentioned awhile ago running the fence line and moving railroad ties. This dog was such a sweet girl and little was known about her, about how she ended up in the local shelter. My friend just happend to stop there, probably giving supplies and saw her, and said she had room for her. The previous owners didn't seem really interested in getting her back and don't know if they were the original owners or not.
Anyway, the other day I guess Rosie had hurt her back very badly and was in severe pain. She couldn't even lay down so she stood throughout most of the days and nights. The vet put her on pain meds and was monitoring her but as time played out she just wasn't getting any relief. Unable to come up with the funds for any surgery if that would even fix the problem the vet and my friend decided the most humane decision was to put her at rest. I felt so bad when my friend told me what happend, it broke my heart that she had no other choice but I know it was best for Rosie. I loved that poor girl, she was so sweet and full of life. I don't know how much love she got from where she came from, but I do know that she got love from my friend. Shelter dogs have such a hard life, you never know what happend to them and yet they always seem to show the most love and happiness to whoever will give them the time. And I think she deserves to be mentioned just for her.
So, I just want to say Rosie, I am glad I got to meet you, and I will miss your sweet kisses, you were a good girl and I won't forget you, I promise. RIP and run now free of pain, you can run to your hearts content. |

| | Alpha | I will tell Connie that you all said nice things in regards to her girl. If she has a pic I can use I will try and see if I can get it on my computer. I know it touched her as she lost her dobe who was red also not too long ago. Ruby was laid to rest due to cancer. It started on her toe I think and well that's what it was. Ruby went fast and so when Connie saw Rosie she just melted.
Thanks to all of you for being so nice, I felt so bad and she wasn't even my dog. I guess it just tears me up knowing so many dogs and cats are tossed out for various stupid reasons or abused terribly. I was going to give her a pad to use for protection but never got it to her, we wrk opposite shifts and it's hard to meet up with her on her days off. I wished I could have given her some money towards any operations but I depleted alot of my own for Jasmine's neck surgery. If you knew Connie you would understand how soft she is. She ended up taking this dobe from some breeder who she found out was nothing but a puppy mill breeder. This poor black dobe looks so weird, one eye is out of place or something, and she is very wary of strangers. Connie just couldn't leave her there knowing her fate would be death for sure, and she has spent alot in vet bills for her teeth too. I was shocked she still took her after finding all this out, but she wanted her to have a loving home. (what do ya do, I mean it is supporting these nasty people, but the poor animals?) they need to get out of those surroundings. anyway, just a big hug to all of you with so much warmth in your hearts for a poor faded red dobe. |

| Run free Rosie. Shelter dogs and rescues are so special. Whatever their past, they seem to just glow with love and trust...if given a chance. RIP sweet girl.
