Hi all, just wanted to stop by and let everyone know that Josie lost to DCM on April 14, 2017. She was out romping in the yard (she was extra playful that morning), and collapsed when she came inside. She looked frightened for one second but otherwise did not seem to suffer. I attempted CPR but was never able to get a pulse. It was devastating to see, but I get a little bit of relief knowing she was having fun right before. I miss her so much already that it's hard to believe. She had been diagnosed with dcm just two months earlier. She never had any symptoms other than her two episodes of V-tach. I thought she was going to be with me longer. Run free, sweet girl. 1/4/2009-4/14/2017.
Again, I'm so sorry for your loss. Having lost two of my girls to sudden death, I know how shocking it is. I also know how fast they go, and the fact that they never suffered gave me some comfort. My girls were older when they went - Josie should have still had years left...... it is just never enough time with them no matter what.
RIP Josie, and hugs to you.
Sorry for your lose.. We had a female Doberman named Sadie, when I was a kid, that ended up dying from this. Of course I didn't know it was this, at the time, because browsing the Internet to research anything wasn't exactly the most easy of things to do, since 1: it was Dail Up, and 2: I didn't have Internet until I was 16, and she died years before that.
My Dad still blames himself for what happened. It was high in the 90's outside and he had her out there with him while he was cleaning the pond filter. They were only out there 20 mintues before they went back in.
She laid down next to his chair and just.. passed away. He was home alone, cause us kids were at school and my mom was at work. I can only imagine how that made him feel.
It just felt surreal to us since we pretty much came home and she didn't exist anymore.. it was still very sad and the reason why they've not considered getting another Doberman until now. They couldn't afford to take her to the vet while trying to also raise us.
So sorry Josie had the terrible illness...RIP sweet girl.
Just this side of heaven is a place called ‘Rainbow Bridge’:
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
