| I lost my 11 year old yesterday I had to put my 11 year old female Sadie to sleep yesterday. It was the hardest thing I have ever done. I was with her in the hospital when they injected her. I never thought I could do that but I read a dog poem that siad please dont leave me alone when it is my time to go so I did the best I could to bear it. I literally got sick and thought I was going to pass out. It was awful. Sadie RIP my best friend and companion..I will always love you

| I'm so sorry. Yes, it meant the world for Sadie to know you were there with her. It is hard but also an intimate time for you to share with her and she wouldn't have it any other way. I know if she could she would thank you for setting her free and loving her enough to push aside your pain for her comfort. |

| They would give their life for you in a heartbeat. We owe it to them to make their passing as easy as possible. You did a good thing being with her and I am sure she loves you for it. As time passes you will be glad you did not leave her alone.
Rest In Peace Sadie

| My heart is with you. You did the right thing but I know how hard it was. There is no doubt in my mind that she is grateful for your bravery. Even if she didnt understand at the moment, immediately upon passing she did and she took this final, selfless, loving act, to the bridge with her in her heart.
She will want to be the first to greet you upon your arrival at the bridge some day.
RIP sweet Sadie. |

| RIP sweet Sadie.
I am so very sorry for your loss. I've been there and it is one of the most painful experience we have to endure but also a very selfless and loving thing we can do for our beloved pet.
Like Avalonandon said your Sadie knows you were there for her and she will be forever with you.
Some may call me crazy but mine have always let me know they are still here watching over me. |

| My heart goes out to you. I've thought about how I will handle that when Major's time comes. Thanks to this board, and to posts like yours I know that I will be with him when the time comes. These are absolutely amazing animals. Their affection and communication skills are incredible. I can only imagine the pain you are feeling. Hang in there and thank you for staying with your pup when it mattered most. |

I am down at our little lake house which Sadie loved so much. We come here every weekend. She loved it. This is my first time here without her. I dreaded coming here today because I knew how difficult it would be to be without her. I look at the couch she always laid on and I went over and touched it and I can still smell her. I hope that I can have some dreams with her in them. I miss her so much.

| My heart goes out to you. I, also, went through this a few months ago. The one thing I wanted more than anything over the years was to be able to be there when it was her time to go. I prayed she wouldn't have some awful illness and she would die while I was not there. I thank God I was able to be there with her. I hope you'll always have the comfort of knowing you got to be there with your precious girl when she took her last breath. IMHO it is a gift to be able to be there with them who have been there with us for so long. I wish you lots of peace. I'm so sorry. |

How wonderful that you were able to give her the gift of your presence when she needed you the most. I have had this experience with other pets....and will be facing it again with my 5 1/2 year old Dobie who has inoperable cancer. | So sorry for your loss. You did a wonderful thing being with her at the end, so she was comforted by your presence. Its such a difficult thing to do, but worth it so that our wonderful companions are not scared and alone when they pass. I'm sure you have lots of wonderful memories of her, and in time they will become a comfort to you. In the meantime, don't be ashamed to cry and grieve, it just shows the bond you had with her. RIP Sadie |
