| I am so so sorry for your loss. Kona was loved and you were lucky to have each other, if only for a short time. But then, it's never long enough.

| Thank you to you all for your messages so far. I am getting comfort hearing from you all. It hurts so bad right now, counting hours since I last kissed that long, long snout and fondled her soft ears. We're going to our local shelter today to give Kona's goodies and food and stuff to the shelter dogs. She wasn't much for sharing stuff but I think she'd want to give her treats to them. There's a Dobe there that I want to take for a walk and give a Bully stick to. I need some Dober kisses. |

| I am always sorry when I hear that another dobe has taken the last walk, and I felt your pain as I read your post. Like others have said, just hang on to all the happiness you had with her.

| It is day 5 . We just came back from picking up Kona's ashes. The people at Canada West did a beautiful thing for us during aftercare...they took a paw print impression and there's even a few little Doberhairs lodged in the clay. I'm so touched because I was so mad at myself for never thinking to take an impression and they were able to give me this final gift without even knowing my secret wish. Kona's ashes came in a beautiful urn too, we didn't even have to ask. These are people who care deeply about what they do and about the fur babies who have been entrusted to them. I'm grateful for their kindness. On another note, everyone here at the Rainbow Bridge forum has been instrumental in keeping me sane in these last few days even if you didn't know it. There were a few times when I wanted to go to the Bridge as well but it's not my time. Everyone here has suffered the loss and survived, I will too. Kona will be there when it is my time. Thank you everyone. |

Wow...I just saw this thread tonight for the first time. I am so sorry for you and can understand all of your frustration, confusion and often unbearable pain. Im so glad that we have this rainbow bridge forum so we can help eachother get through these horrible times.
I am glad they took care of you and went the extra mile for you too. I am going to get Sebastians paw print for this reason. I am glad you mentioned it.
It is never long enough but 5 years is far far too short. My heart goes out to you and I know your pain will turn to happy memories eventually. In the mean time, know that you are not alone.

| Five years, six years, seven years - it is too unbearable to see them leave us. The pain is terrible; one feels so lost. My thoughts are with you in these terrible days. Kissing another Dobe does help.
