| Wow, so we measured and weighed Riley today, as he is now officially 7 months old. He must have slowed down... a lot... because he was growing like a damn weed before at the usual "10lb-per-month" rate... but this month he only gained maybe 3lbs, if that. He's currently 26in tall and 56lbs. Looks slender, but not malnourished or anything... he's got long legs and none of his ribs are showing. Hmmm?
I hope he fills out well enough. He still looks like a goofy pup right now, lol!
Perhaps he will be one of those dogs that take a good couple of years to fill out? Thinking of upping his food amount slightly to see if it helps though. Just don't want to go the other way and make him fat, either.

| I got Rowan at 6 months so I don't have much to document but he was 60lbs at 6.5 months and 64 by 7 months I think he's closer to 70lbs now at 9 months. Was 25in at 8 months.... Now I want to measure him but he doesn't really stand still :p Sent from my iPhone using Petguide.com Free App

If he looks like the photos, that is a nice blend of enough coverage (not too skinny) without excess weight on the joints - ideal!! Good job.

| 88 lbs. at 8 months I took DaVinci to the vet today to get neutered...(can't wait to go bring him home to baby him)...but was shocked that he weighed in at 88 pounds and is 8 months old! Is he going to turn into a minature horse? He is a very sweet giant pup! |

| Ok my Mabel is still really tiny. Almost 6mos and is only 32lbs!!! She gained 5lbs this month we switched to solid gold food last month and are increasing the amount slowly. We want her to grow but not too much to affect her joints or have her be over weight. Next step is the vet to make sure she has a clean bill of health. She is just over 7mths old now and I haven't weighed her since the 6 mth weighing. I did have to return her to 4 meals/day and increased her food - she was looking too skinny. Now I have to cut back and remove the bedtime meal - she is "well covered" right now and could easily drop 2-3 lbs. no ribs showing at all (bad momma...).

| Growth Chart I have been monitoring my puppy's weight by day and have created a chart, Note that he is male, and was the smallest of his litter, so this not an exact science but should give you an idea of his average growth per week. Niko averaged exactly 3 pounds per week. His expected final weight is ~65-80lbs. Hope this helps with anyones growth questions. |

| My Luca is now 6 months old tomorrow and only weighs 42 lbs. I take him every week to the local pet store to weigh him. He had a lot of problems with diareaha and putting on weight. I am slowly getting it in control. He hasn't had the runs in a week. Not normal for him. As I write this I'm afraid I'm going to curse things and he will get it again. He is very ribby yet he is 23 1/2 inches. I highly doubt he is toning to be big. His breeder seems to think he will be over 80 lbs. |

I have a lot of chicken and boiled rice in small containers in the freezer - I got in the habit of keeping it on hand for immediate use in meal-sized portions. I also use it for adults with upset tummies.
I add ground eggshell and if you have a puppy with chronic diarrhea (it seems that way anyway) you need to make sure they are getting the right amount of calcium/phosphorus in their diet (1 teaspoon of ground eggshell per cup of food without calcium). I use a coffee grinder to grind the eggshell into a fine powder.

Than he had boiled chicken and rice for a few days than I slowly started with the kibble. I have been increasing it slowly. I have him up to 3 and half cups with boiled meat including beef, chicken and turkey he gets 1 1/2 cups of that plus a couple table spoons cottage cheese and yogurt. All that split in 2 meals a day. He gets probiotics with digestive enzymes, one tablet a day and slippery elm bark. I hope to keep things stable for him and put weight on him. |

| I hope everything goes well for you. These pups become a huge part of our lives. I hate to hear of any having issues. Size of the dog has no bearing on the quality of the dog. Bigger dog bigger piles in the yard. |

| Hey guys,
First time posting. Normally I just read the forum, and when I came across thread, I had to get in here and see if there was a way to actually see what line my dobe came from.
I have papers of his bloodline dating back to the 60's with photos. All are AKC, but I do not know if that means that it is all American Blood or if it is European.
Here is my dobe. He is 7 months old and weighs 90 lbs.
Now, I normally weigh myself, then pick him up and then take the difference. I didnt know how accurate this was until I took him to the vet several times to compare, an was just about dead on.
I know there are mixed views about AKC registered dogs, but, as I fear that they could have flubbed the D.O.B. , he ran consistent of everything that dobes go through as far as losing teeth, gaining mobility over their long legs, their bark, and so on.
After going through pictures of his ancestors, they all are pretty big. So, if that is the case, and his D.O.B. (June 5th 2012) is right, then, here you have it. Hank! |
