| A 15 week old Dobe pup, and a 1yr old Weimaraner...am I insane? So my "surrogate" dog is Oscar a 1 yr old Weim (who is impeccably well trained). His owners were great clients when I was still working as a tech (with their old dog), and now they "board" Oscar with me whenever they go away. I just set it up to take Oscar from tomorrow night until Saturday morning...I think I might be nuts. Bruce really needs a dog playdate, and Oscar is so awesome with puppies, he LOVES to play, has endless patience, and is super gentle but can play rough when it's needed (Bruce is still a bit nervous with other dogs, so they should mesh really well).
So from tomorrow night until Saturday morning I will have 2 kids, 2 cats, a dobe puppy, and a weim here. I already feel like I need a glass of wine lol.
Before anyone says anything I will be sure to post pics of the boys together . I just hope Oscar isn't jealous of Bruce's new batman coat (from MeadowCat). |

The hubby has a quiet week with his business so he will be around to help thankfully. It also helps that Oscar is so well trained (we lovingly call him the robot dog, he just does whatever he is told no matter what).
I will be sure to update and let you all know how I am surviving. It will be great for Bruce though, I'm excited. |

| It'll be fun. Don't feel bad if you need to crate them both for a little while for your sanity

Bruce went for a walk in his new coat tonight, by the way. Three people stopped me to tell me how great his coat is He wagged his nub the whole time, quite proud of himself. |

| You will have your hands full, no doubt, but our Mastiff is only a bit over one and very rowdy, along with our 12 week old puppy, we are going through about the same thing, and honestly it is not too bad. Good luck though! |

| So far so good Bruce is very respectful of Oscar, and a tiny bit timid but getting braver every minute. Oscar, as usual, is being a saint. Here's the only pic I could get (they aren't staying still for long). Don't mind the remote collar on Oscar, they only ever use the beep on him (and even that is rare) never anything more, and I always just take it off anyway when he's here I just forgot (it's off now). Also, forgive the "hounds of hell" glowing eyes lol. |

| Oscar goes home tomorrow sometime, but it's been a great few days. He has been awesome for Bruce! They've become good friends, and played a lot. Bruce even went for his first walk into town (which is really busy), and was very brave having his buddy to show him how it's done. He did better than I ever thought he would do the first time, especially since he can be timid in new situations. I watched him closely, and treated a lot. He never hesitated to take a treat, so I knew he wasn't being pushed too far.
Oscar deserves a medal or even a parade after putting up with Bruce lol. I left Bruce with the hubby this evening and took Oscar for a run to give him a break, and let each dog have some one on one time. Oscar has been a patient, gentle teacher, but also not afraid to put Bruce in his place when he has gotten a little too bossy.
Next weekend Bruce and I are going to my best friends place for the weekend so he can play with her 2 labs who are both also very good with puppies. I can't wait, especially knowing how well Bruce has done in the last few days.
Here's a pic from this evening after a play session. Don't mind Bruce's ears, Oscar felt that I needed to re-post them, and this was while I was letting them air out. |
