It's that time of night
As I've mentioned before I am not new to Dobes per se. My grandfather showed them when I was growing up, and we had some when I was younger, so I've been around many of them. Bruce is however the first Dobe I've owned myself. I am pretty familiar with the breed, yet it never ceases to amaze me just how unlike other breeds they are.
Bruce is so "human" in some ways. This time of night he reminds me of exactly how my kids get when they're ready for bed. First he will get insanely hyper (zoomies up and down the hallway). This is my cue that he is ready for bed...once he's done and gone out for his last bathroom break in his crate he goes. From here he gets into cranky, overtired child mode lol. He bites his blankie, and grumbles and growls at it until he falls asleep lol (if it doesn't do what he wants it to, he will bark at it). Every night it makes me laugh, because it's so much like how my kids get...hyper, then cranky, then crashed for the night.
Here's a pic of him taken just a few minutes before bedtime zoomies started (this is his "I'm about to get crazy" face). His ears are not finished by the way, I had just taken them down to clean and repost.
