 | New girl---name suggestions
I am getting a black female puppy next week!! First time Doberman owner too. I've had a boxer, who lived to be 10, but have always wanted a Dobermand. Have some friends that have them, and I've always loved this breed. I visited the puppy (and the breeder) for a couple hours last night. Here's her parents, if that helps:
Champion Sired by CH Holly Woods Race The Sun "Trace" X Camee's Don't Ya Tell V Briarwood, "Nakita", CGC, 13 pts/1 major
She's a ball of energy. Breeder thought (and I agree after being with her for couple hours) she would be great in an active family. 3 of us, in my family, run half marathons, so as she ages, and growth plates close, she'll have lots of exercise that way. I also have lessons scheduled with a trainer to works/trains for competitive obedience and rally and is a CGC evaluator for the AKC. So I'll make sure we get her off to great start..... will need it with all her energy.
Now what to name her? We would like to name her with something starting with the letter "Z". So excited to have this new addition joining our lives!
And better yet, my fence it being placed as we speak. It will be finished before the puppy comes home.  |

Just for a few summers though, not years like you.
I like racehorse names for other animals, too.
I had a bunny named Silver Charm.
So, OP, guess that's another vote from me for "Zenyatta."
And just think, when she's not listening--as Dobermans puppies are wont to do--you can yell "Yatta, Yatta, Yatta!"

It was a fluke to go from show horses to racehorses but I loved it. Then I got (really) hurt and decided it was time for a change of scenery, hence why I became a tech. I have my professional trainers licence so I do still train the odd horse here and there, but mostly Morgans again (my first love). I do miss the track though, probably always will. Quote:

| Well an update. A name has been chosen. My daughters (ages 20 and 15), initially wanted a name that started with Z, thus my asking for suggestions. There were great one! thank you. Problem was, my daughters could not agree on one. A non-Z name was mentioned by a friend visiting, and they both loved it, so her name is now going to be:
HARLEY
I pick her up a week from Saturday. The day after Christmas, I've already schedule a lesson with a dog trainer, to get help me get started on teaching her (and me). Can't wait. | |
