We'll see what happens! | Well, Bella was 47.4 lbs last week, and gains about 3 lbs per week, do I'd put her at 50 lbs right now. She'll be 5 months tomorrow AND lost her first canine tooth last night... So if these theories are true, then my girl will be 100 lbs at full size... Yikes. I knew she'd be a big dog, and would be much bigger than my other dog and playmate, Sparky (Bichon Frise, 13" and 21 lbs.), but i never expected her to be THAT big!! Her Mama is around 80 lbs and father is unknown... Bella is a rescue. Hmmm... Sent from my iPhone using Petguide.com Free App |

| A quote from Luvbirds from this thread always sticks with me when people ask about their puppy's weight: Growth Chart of Puppy - Weight and Height? Quote:
Most puppies tend to weigh about:
2 months~20 pounds
3 months~30 pounds
4 months~40 pounds
5 months~50 pounds
6 months~60 pounds
Give or take up to 10 pounds on either side.
Then after that....some bigger males will continue to grow at the same rate for a few more months, while females that are going to be average size tend to really slow down almost to a stop, as they hit their first heat. Average male is somewhere around 85 pounds give or take 10 and female is 65 give or take 5-10 pounds. Some pups have all their height by about 9 months old, others continue to grow until 18 months old. There is no set in stone rule as to how a Doberman puppy will grow. If the puppy is fed a good quality diet, exercised properly...it will reach the adult size that is preprogrammed in its genes. Feeding it more will not make a bigger Doberman, it will make a fat one.
Lines grow differently and the best person to ask how your puppy to be, will grow is your breeder!

In all honesty he would have to be like 30 inches or higher for the judges to really take notice, and there have been many males who actually have been in the ring at 30 inches. Not so much lately but years ago. The main thing is for the dog to be balanced.
Fingers crossed his height is almost done. | Also remember he could aswell take after my side.. My Fever is his great grand father and he was 28 inches at7 mths... he grew 1 more inch between 7 mths and 18mths and was 88lbs his whole adult life.

I'm pretty sure he's almost done in height. He won't go over 29, and who cares about weight. I like bigger males. He's really lean now since the diet lol and he just weighed in last week at 91-92 pounds, so he's still growing but it'll be fine. He's just a big boy.

Hope the doubling from 5 months is wrong because he was about 70 pounds then. Lol. | Amazing! Over 50 years in Dobes and I've never heard the double in size from 5 months deal until today.
The one that works out the best for the most part is the rule of thumb (and this is for MALES--it's different for bitches and I have no idea what that rule of thumb is) that says that male puppies put on about 10 pounds for every month from about 3 months to around 6 to 7 months. But this doesn't say anything about height.
My fawn dog (an AKC champion) was nearly 28.5 inches in the 6 to 9 puppy classes. AKC and CKC standards read the same on height--26 to 28 inches with ideal at 27.5" for males. But I've had other males who were 26" in the 6-9 puppy class and who didn't hit their full height until they were 18 months old.
It really does depend on the lines--and on how plump the puppy is at any given age. |
