| There are 2 situations here, one being a puppy which has been helped and another being being a greeder being supported in his vocation. I think the responses have acknowledged both situations and, although the subject is particularly repetitive at the moment, the emphasis on the greeder situation - particularly the suggestions for how it could have happened differently or be taken forward - are useful. Thanks to those who repeat their suggestions over and over because it helps me know what to do if faced with a similar situation.
I also think that because of the nature of the traffic on these sites it is necessary to respond to the greeder situation every time it comes up, frustrating as it may be for those who do so - keep up the education, it does make a difference. |

Other than the fact that I can sling a cat through your story about how you obtained this pup, did it ever occur to you to do something other than buy her? And don't play the I did good for her card here. Say that you bought her because you wanted her and this is what you had to do to fix her. Say it was a crappy breeder and you wanted the puppy no matter what you had to do to get her. $650 in that guy's pocket was a shame. That amount of money in rescue could have worked miracles. Do me a favor and call the guy and tell him to give half of that to his local Doberman rescue. That way he can start paying on what he owes to the rescues that have to clean up his messes. Oh, and God hates it when we are lukewarm. Hot or cold. Fight or lay down. But don't say everybody else does it so I did too. That's just sad. | God loves compassion. What the breeder does is between him and God. I'm at peace with that too, because my faith tells me it has been reported to the highest authority. The laws to protect women and children are week or feebily enforced in this country. The laws to protect animals are almost no existant if you look at enforcemnt. I called the Kansas Humane Society and am still waiting for a return call, because I left a mesage.
What you do is between you and your maker.... I know he loves you.

| I find it hard to believe that you "walked down a dark sidewalk and stumbled upon this" . If it is true, I cant say that I wouldnt have thought about doing the same as you. I do think that actively seeking a backyard breeder is much worse than "stumbling upon a sick puppy with a byb" but it still doesnt make it right to give them money in exchange for the puppy. had you Talked him into giving it to you, I could support you fully, but since you did give money, you are in fact hurting the many puppies to come from this jerk by supporting his bad behavior. And they will be just as sick, homeless and uncared for as the last ones.

What you do is between you and your maker.... I know he loves you. | Since the laws as you say protecting women, children, the week et al are "feeblily enforced"~ what is your part in contributing to that since the most you could do was give the guy money then call & leave a message with the humane society?
Why are you not putting this breeder's name out there to protect the other puppies and the public from putting yet more money in this guy's pocket?
Isn't that a lie of omission?
I can only think of a couple of reasons you'd withold that information, none of them good. |

You surely understand dobermans don't respond well to harsh treatment and abusing a doberman will not produce any desireable change. Yet you think hateful harsh tones will affect a positive response in humans. very interesting.

And seemed to expect approbation for your actions.
