Hi. I just purchased a female Dobe, 11 wks old, on friday. I noticed her left frontleg is knuckling, but only occasionally. I took her to the vet today and of course she wasnt doing it. The vet was rather rude and told me to get a video of it. As if! So Im going to get a 2nd opinion on friday ( in 2 days ) from a vet who has staff that have had dobes for years. Any insight on this is appreciated. Is it usually temperary? She also told me to put Snooki on large breed puppy, I thought that was inappropriate for Dobes? She's on Prairie now but Im thinking of switching to Canidae. Thanks in advance.

Marceline started to knuckle over pretty bad, with the legs also bowing. I switched her to Orijen LBP because it has the correct Calcium to Phosphorus ratio and did real relaxed stretching at night to help the heel drop back down. Legs are perfect now. But it was obviously growth related and not a structural defect.

odd, knuckling used to mean something totaly different to me.............a conformational fault.....developmental..........

wasn't until I joined DT that I saw so many young pups with such weak pasterns and bowing in the front legs that people refer to as knuckling here...........

it does seem to have a lot to do with the type of food they are getting and or supplements.

i always fed my pups the same food my adults ate and they never had any 'growth' issues.

Thanks everyone for your input. Snooki's leg is nowhere near as severe. I was actually trying to take a pic and she isnt doing it at all now. She still has an apt friday so we'll see.
