I wanted a doberman in my family and I don't feel that you need to pay thousands to have a good dog.
You're right, people shouldn't have to pay thousands for a good dog, and guess what? They don't have to because they can RESCUE a Doberman
. After all, most rescue Dobermans were brought into the world by a BYB, so why not rescue instead of rewarding BYB with your money?
Diesel is a great dog, I still keep in contact with his breeder and they havent had any puppies since Diesel's litter. I'm not dealing with puppy mills, they aren't turning out puppy after puppy nonstop.
Alrighty, a BYB is not soley defined by the number of dogs they breed. Backyard Breeders are people that have decided to breed Dobermans for some reason other than "improving the breed".
And before you share that you don't care if your Doberman wins a beauty contest (aka who cares if the parents are champions or have working titles), I can assure you that conformation DOES matter for a pet quality Doberman. Why? Because we want our Dobies around for as long as possible. Take my beloved KC as an example, we fondly refer to him as our 'Franken-Dobie', he's 31" tall and has some pretty severe faults that have already caused him to have aches and pains. I wish KC's breeder had cared more about conformation because KC is already 'paying the price' for them not caring.
I hope you all enjoy your "PERFECT" dogs, and live forever in your "PERFECT" little worlds with sunshine and daises everywhere you go.
Yep, I most certainly do enjoy my 'perfect dogs', every Doberman is perfect, every Doberman should be cherished! What I'm even more thankful for is that this board taught me what a blight BYB are on this breed; I know that my money will never again provide the financial backing Backyard Breeders need to continue to exist.
I hope YOU enjoy your Dobermans while your Dobermans parents & siblings are leading depressing lives pumping out puppies to fund some human's existance. I'm sure you are quite proud of yourself for that decision; so disappointing.
I hope your happy to have chased away another member... who knows maybe I could made some friends here. Unfortunately nobody really wanted to actually take the time to get to know me, Judge, Jury, and executioner!!
Actually, we kinda did get to know you. We know that your beliefs are in direct contradiction to the forum's published manifesto, we know that you believe it's okay to continue purchasing Dobermans from BYB, we know you think it's acceptable to bring home a 5 week old puppy, and most of all, we sadly know that you have no interest in changing your beliefs. Frankly, it's quite disappointing that after all you've read you STILL defend your choice to purchase from a BYB.
Perhaps others that stumble on this thread will care a little more about how their actions affect this breed and make decisions in the best interest of the dogs.
