They don't have to because they can RESCUE a Doberman. After all, most rescue Dobermans were brought into the world by a BYB, so why not rescue instead of rewarding BYB with your money? Quote:

Backyard Breeders are people that have decided to breed Dobermans for some reason other than "improving the breed".
And before you share that you don't care if your Doberman wins a beauty contest (aka who cares if the parents are champions or have working titles), I can assure you that conformation DOES matter for a pet quality Doberman. Why? Because we want our Dobies around for as long as possible. Take my beloved KC as an example, we fondly refer to him as our 'Franken-Dobie', he's 31" tall and has some pretty severe faults that have already caused him to have aches and pains. I wish KC's breeder had cared more about conformation because KC is already 'paying the price' for them not caring. Quote:

What I'm even more thankful for is that this board taught me what a blight BYB are on this breed; I know that my money will never again provide the financial backing Backyard Breeders need to continue to exist.
I hope YOU enjoy your Dobermans while your Dobermans parents & siblings are leading depressing lives pumping out puppies to fund some human's existance. I'm sure you are quite proud of yourself for that decision; so disappointing. Quote:

We know that your beliefs are in direct contradiction to the forum's published manifesto, we know that you believe it's okay to continue purchasing Dobermans from BYB, we know you think it's acceptable to bring home a 5 week old puppy, and most of all, we sadly know that you have no interest in changing your beliefs. Frankly, it's quite disappointing that after all you've read you STILL defend your choice to purchase from a BYB.
Perhaps others that stumble on this thread will care a little more about how their actions affect this breed and make decisions in the best interest of the dogs.

No, it just gives you a better chance for a healthy puppy.
It's simple logic...
You get the unknown from the unknown.
You have a better chance at getting good health from good health.

| Nobody said that getting a dog from a reputable breeder that health tests means it's going to be perfect. Just like how not all byb's sell dogs for cheap prices. If the dogs were tested for the heart condition, then there would have been proof of it that she should have seen before getting the puppy. Once again, I won't be "that" person to enable something that won't help the breed Sent from my iPhone using Petguide.com Free App |

I remember your thread about the disgusting creature who sold you your pups and I was horrified and I have a byb dog!! Please think before you say anymore. And I begged you to call animal control on this pos and offered to call myself.
To the OP...please reconsider this girl. I know you love her but you will condemn her poor mother into a further lifetime of misery. I never knew or thought about this when we got Coco but I think about it all the time now and the byb I got Coco spayed her mom so she is not still having litters....thank goodness for small favours but what about all the other bybs that never spay their bitches.
Or just wait awhile and you can adopt her when she ends up in rescue and don't line the bybs pockets.

| Coco i am just merely saying my opinions on the subject. Trying to make a point. People will always GO where puppies are cheaper. Because they think there getting a good deal.
So regardless if rain does or does not purchase the puppy someone else will. Her not buying the puppy will not end the cycle. Laws need to be put in effect for breeders. My opinion on that is the goverment wont do that because USDA liceanced puppy mills made the goverment big money so why take that away from them. |

You're a match made in hell because you and rain babe are supporters of bybs. And, rain babe has already been one.
I'm taking up a collection for speutering our latest trolls. Hey, we could do this cheaply just like bybs. Then put them on craigslist "free to good home". |

If everyone stopped buying from BYB, then the cycle WILL end. And we make progress towards that goal one person at a time. Here's what we do know, if Rain purchases that puppy, Rain DID contribute to repeating that cycle.
So, my question for you: Knowing what you know now, would YOU buy another Doberman from a BYB? |

| No, impatient, uninformed or ignorant people go cheap. Smart people go someplace that will give their pet a better chance to live a longer healthier life. What's the point in paying for something you know nothing about history wise? Especially something that is supposed to become a family member? All this talk about cheap and sh*t, they're puppies. You wanna know the biggest distinction between reputable and byb? It's not a freaking BUSINESS! Sent from my iPhone using Petguide.com Free App

| Im sorry to say i would purchase from a BYB again at a LOW cost if it meant that 1 dog or puppy having a better life. But how can someone just go home knowing by you not taking that 1 dog or puppy that it was going to die. Ive been to my walmart where people were giving away mutts and of course i looked at the cute puppies. They told me if no one takes these last two puppies im going to put them down with my 22. So i ended up taking them. yeah maybe they just said that for people like me to take the puppies and maybe they actually meant it. either way i knew those puppies had more of a chance at a normal life and to be loved then what they did going back with those people. |

| I would have walked away with no second thoughts. It's like those idiotic parents that enable their children to do drugs in their home because they don't want them to get caught doing it in public. In the end, the child gets what they want by using people and the parents suffer for it. Enablers are just as sick as the people who are addicted. In the end, you enabled that greeder. And you helped them even more by taking the puppies early so they had weeks to spare from taking care of them. Sent from my iPhone using Petguide.com Free App |

| this by far has been the most entertaining event in my day, reading this has truely been a highlight. sad but true. people who continue to buy from byb's are obviously not learning their lesson and do not care. I made this mistake ONCE and learned from it. why continue to be stupid *cough* excuse me...IGNORANT about it.

| Tothe OP: Keeping the puppy with its siblings isnt because it will be hard to care for, there is no question that you would be unable to bottle feed, care, etc. The main reason puppies need to be together until 8 weeks old (minimum) is because this is a key age in their growth and development. It is really important for them to learn from each other, not from a human, or some random adult dogs- from each other. If you insisnt on getting this puppy, you should at LEAST discuss with the BYB the importance of keeping the pups together a little while longer. This is for their own good. They do NOT need so much more one on one with humans or whatever bs line you were told.
