It is with great dober pleasure, to announce & share our new family addition...KELLY...at 9.5 weeks old.
Last Friday we drove from Ontario, Canada, across 3 States to Illinois to get our new baby girl...with Nancy, Andrew (son) and Larry on board.
Friday was 11 hours on the road, stayed overnight in Chicago, off to breeders and back home, another 14 hours Saturday travelling.
- round trip totalling 1950 Km or 1200 miles
- she was great in the car, and we stopped several times / two of us went into a restaurants and one stayed back, to baby sit
- had lots of time to cuddle & bond some, on the loving trip home...and luckily the weather was perfect
I could not have asked for more good luck, we love our Kelly girl dearly.
- Sandra G.Hunter (aka Sandi) has a super clean facility, and 3 adult dobes, sleep in her bedroom at night / very nice and most knowledgeable breeder.

Kelly is from the pairing of:
sire: BISS GCh/Can Ch Lyndobe's Turn On Da Charm WAC CGC
dam: Ch Bruda Up In Spirit
- producding 4 girls & 5 boys = 4 black/5 red pups

FYI - Interview with Sandra G.Hunter, the famous Doberman Breeder, BRUDA DOBERMANS, Illinois USA.
Interview Date : 27th March 2004 Woodstock Dog Training School | Dog Grooming, Dog Breeds, Dog Diet, Dog Health, Training Dogs, Dog Trainers, Dog Trainer, Dog Training School, Dog Training, Dog Obedience Training, Dog Security Training, Dog Grooming Services

Stay tuned - I have lots more pictures, to share...with my DT friends / and puppy "story time" to tell.
(LOL - son taught me how to shrink & link photos, off my new camera, just last night)

Downtown Chicago, photo taken early Saturday morning...checked out before 6:00 am.

Leaving Chicago, photo from Volvo wagon window...3 more hour drive, to see our puppy.

Illinois flat countryside, lots of tall windmill's across one long stretch of hwy...another 45 minute drive, for exciting puppy time.

Mom gets first look, for her new baby - black or red girl, is still the breeders secret.

We always give our son Andrew, 1st honors to hold the family dober puppy.
- he said he will remember this family trip, for the rest of his adult life

So very sad to hear this news. I never met Sandy but contacted her once in the past when I was inquiring about getting a puppy, before I found Zuko. She was very nice, just didn't have any litters planned at the time. I always loved the look of her dogs.

Today - KELLY turned 5 y/o...:happybday:
- did a ton of Landscaping this summer, she was always by my side
- she likes the rural living & enjoys anyone that drops in / she is a stellar watchdog, until she gets to know you
- she has a very strong nose, often tracks the scent of a bunny rabbit or raccoon, that walked on her property
(late at night)

O'h how the time flies, we still think of her as our wee puppy...but a big & strong girl now, all muscle.
- she loves playing with a random stick to debark or toss in air, a good Frisbee fetch & makes Dad kick her Jolly ball
(while she grips it tight, in her teeth)

Thought I might as well preserve a photo link, for the DT calander submission.
- so mods don't have to resize it, for me...every year
BEAU - getting SMRT in his old age...:nerd:

Little Kelly, at breeders / our 10 weeks old monkey !!
- sorry MOD will have to resize / and I have the Master photo, not squeezed down in size

Tonight I offered help // a 5 month old puppy, on Orijen fighting constant diarrhea.
- so I am documenting, my lessons learned here
- Kelly also switched from Acana, to Orijen Regional Red, to Nulo, protein was much too high for her

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We fought soft stools & off/on diarrhea for over 5 years / checked liver #'s, stool samples negative, extensive blood work was negative...always used premium 4-5 star kibble (Orijen Regional Red), home cooking & 5 star dried liver treats, changed kibble few times, tried grain free (no better) / finally a gifted Vet surgeon checked out Kelly girl, and knew exactly what she needed...she needed a LOW PROTEIN (24% max.)//HIGH CARB diet. Sending kisses & hugs to Tupac xoxooxoxoxooo from Canada...I will be back ‎Ainzley, going to find a link, to Kelly's awesome home-made healthy kibble. Even 12 y/o little Trevor (sons YorkiePoo) loves the new food. Kelly has had a 100% recovery, perfect stools all the time now.

Kelly and little Trevor (sons 12 y/o YorkiePoo) have the best seat, in the house.
He was trained by former Amy as a puppy, so the little guy is really language smart & copied her mannerisms.
- we Love him dearly

I always laugh, seeing T-man on the top of the leather sectional.
- best friends now, but the first year was terror when they visited...>:)
- puppy Kel must of thought, "who brought the squirrel, in the house"...LOL...and her prey drive, would escalate
- but we didn't do a life of crate & rotate, but rather "strictly supervised" through the early chaos (first year)
- now they will even sleep together, and can be safely left alone together

What a pretty girl ! Had to laugh about the first year - and now they sleep next to each other - yesterday - I told the Mrs the same thing about Ali and Kadin - Kadin was sleeping on the bed and Ali hooped up and laid down next to him - laying across his front legs - lol Never thought I would see that one .

Thanks for the Picture 6-7

Documentation Time...
More Reading: https://www.dobermantalk.com/genera...usly-picked-my-long-time-gsd-how-proceed.html

I have enjoyed all the great info. & wisdom here ^

And Saskdobie - this Larry (from ON) found your recap most interesting.
- hitting many good & valid points

Critter’s mom - I think your 1/2 way there...dealing with your pair, of fighters.
(not ideal now)
- you have to be the real Alpha & much stronger as an individual (Leader in dogs eyes) if both out, at same time & practice 100% SUPERVISION (nothing less)...or Crate & Rotate, for dogs life

Why do you think, on the earlier thread, I told you it was bad...to let dogs dig holes, for fun ????
- you thought it was an interesting idea, but harm can it do ?

^^ You gave up Rules & Boundaries, and so goes the dogs respect...for its master.
- so they are left to their own innate imagination, to be just dogs...and they will figure out, the pecking order...without their owner / and the bully develops
- content dogs need a Master / that makes every decision, for them for a balanced existence

---------------------------------------

PS - our dobe puppy (female Kelly) was truly aggressive at 11 weeks old (hackles up RED ZONE), a handful to control and picked fights with our sons YorkiePoo (Trevor), who was also an Alpha male.
- plus we are a crate-less home here
- and at 5 months young, Kelly picked up little Trevor off the floor...and Mom, laid the law down
- a split second, from the little dog being shook like a rag dog stuffy, and avoided a broken neck

We trained the dogs to share toys, we let them eat beside each other and share food out of the same dish.
- we supervised them religiously, for over a year
- and never left them alone, for even a minute...the following year
- they knew, if the fights didn't stop & someone got hurt...the good dog life, would never exist again, for the offender
- through a projection, they got the message // and one day, the fighting stopped...just like that

Now they will sleep together / and we never have to worry, when the little dog is over.
- at night, they share the leather sectional with Mom, watching TV...both are included in everything together
- and Kelly is most happy, when Trevor goes home LOL
- my little T-man will be here for the weekend, we Love baby sitting him

Kelly would have been surrendered or put down, if sold to a newbe (before she turned 9 months old) - but we got her, and she changed for the better / she knew she had to, plain and simple.
- all our Rules she had to comply with, right down on how to play with specific toys
- she was given Boundaries & with that...Trust & Respect for her Humans happened & the Bond foundation, was built

Bond is Foundation - for 1.5 years, she would not expose her puppy belly for rubs.
[a very dominate girl]
- so dad started to rub her tail underside to relax her (for first 10 minutes), in the master bed @ night
[its also a horse whisper technique, I would learn later]
- during the day, I've dreamed up other ways of relaxing a red Zone dog
- some just with forms of special speech word patterns, body blocking & hand touch projections of Masters strength

Dad & Mom here - controlled Kelly 24/7, as a puppy / now she fits into a normal routine and is very happy & safe to be around, even for others.
- but don't come near or touch, her Dads red Silverado 4x4 truck :grin2:

Kelly is from the pairing of:

dam: Ch Bruda Up In Spirit
- producding 4 girls & 5 boys = 4 black/5 red pups

FYI - Interview with Sandra G.Hunter, the famous Doberman Breeder, BRUDA DOBERMANS, Illinois USA.

Mrs67 read on FB, in the last week...a Bruda litter, born 2 years & 3 months
earlier than Kelly (Sept. 2012 puppy), died of sudden heart failure...both of them.
- 2 litter mates from different homes...passed 3 days apart @ 9.5 y/o
- sadly, they shared the same Sire, with Kelly :crying: Kel is currently 7.6 y/o

We can only hope for the best here / our Dr. Vern said, Kelly has a strong heart.
- we will continue, to feed kelly with Moms homemade meal plan & Vet Royal Canine (stopped her loose stools)
- a well planned diet, of Low Fat/High Carb...with cooked white fish, hamburger, & veggies

Our other 2 girls, where from top Canadian blood lines.
- 1977 Tanya pup...lived 9.5 years, but Kibble/Treat quality was crap, in those days
- 2000 Amy pup...lived 11.7 years, on Holistic kibble & Organic treats

I'm sure you know from being on DT for so long that DCM isn't so simple...

Turner (Kelly's sire), died at age 11 of leukemia (Dobequest:Dog Profile Page). Both the bitch and the sire contribute genes, and those genes mix in a unique way in each litter. Kelly's dam is J'Adore, correct? (Dobequest:Dog Profile Page).

Even when you look at the pedigrees and study them, you don't know for sure what will happen. Your best bet is to do a yearly echo and 24 hour holter on Kelly, so that you can have an early warning if something is amiss. A regular vet visit won't tell you anything about what her heart health is. You can't detect DCM without an echo and a holter unless it's in a very advanced state, and then it's far too late to do anything about it.
