| | Big Dog | my little girl is born for those who want to follow what I have been through in the past little while, here are a few of my recent threads: New puppy? and Name A new pup possibly, opinions? DCM took our boy
Well... 4 red girls were born to Smartie and Spartan November 16th. I have been told that I am being given on eof the pups!! I just need to cover the cost of ear cropping. I think I will name her either Phoenix or Nova. Just needed to tell some people who appreciate dogs, and dobermans, and the excitement of a new puppy--my family, friends, and coworkers are begining to roll their eyes at me.. They dont want to hear any more dog talk, lol.
IMO Spartan and Smartie are really nice looking dogs--pictures of them can be seen at: Denmel Dobermans under litters. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Denise as a breeder.
There is a possibility that I may be getting a show prospect which will be a new experience for me, but one that I am excited about!
Please comment, share your opinions!! I would like to know what yall think comformationally of Smartie and Spartan
Thanks!!

I like the breeding!
it is a VERY 'typey' breeding too!
I bet you will get a very nice, quality red girl.
Congrats again on your upcoming puppy girl!

| Congratulations!!!
I absolutely ADORE Spartan..perhaps it has something to do with him being the sire of Jewels Seriously, he's a stunning boy, super smart, everything one could want in a Doberman. His owner is wonderful, she's super nice, very helpful, and extremely knowledgeable.
I look forward to watching your girl grow up!!!
ETA: I'm certainly not qualified to judge conformation, but I can tell you that Jewel's breeder told me that the first time she saw Spartan as a puppy, he took her breathe away! And Jewels litter has a bitch that finished from the puppy class, a male that took 2nd in his class at the national, and just finished getting his majors so he's a new champion, Jewels, who is singled out (on the hunt for those elusive majors), and another bitch that just started her show career and took Winner's Bitch for a 4pt major at the specialty in WA in August.

| Those are all good names!! But you are right it may all change based on the theme or when you see your little doll. I was split between Maya and Coco but when I saw her she was definitely a Coco and not a Maya at all!! Congrats again.

I may have to buy one this year. My nexr big task is trying to figure out dog shows Luckily several ladies in my local kennel club have and do show, one in particular has dealt with dobes in the past |

| 15 November? This is going to be the longest 2/3 months for you in a long time. My guy, Griffin, was born (whelped?) on 15 October and I still have another interminable 4 weekends before he's flown up. So I've kept myself busy with the gate guy, the crate guy, got tags made, tried not to irritate the breeder, trawled DT and all the links DT recommends (Hyperbole and a half is definitely a favorite and at least got me on to topics besides puppies...). I've even been to puppy school without a puppy (but only because they'll be closed for Christmas holidays when Griffin arrives).
Hey, that's cool. I think you should call her Phoenix (goes with Griffin...what's with all these bird names at the moment?) |

| | Big Dog | I know that waiting will be the hardest part!! Luckily Denise (Coopers breeder) is going down to see the pups--Smartie is with Spartans owner, the pups were whelped there as the climiate is much more milder... also, this is about 4-5 hours closer to me, so this makes me happier--so expecting some pictures this weekend!
Im not sure why I like Phoenix--maybe what it stands for, I like sronger names with meaning, not cutesy, or people names so much. I think I may save Nova for my 2nd dobe a few years down the road...
Promise to post a million pictures!! |

| Wikipedia tells me ' a phoenix is a long-lived bird that is cyclically regenerated or reborn. Associated with the sun, a phoenix obtains new life by arising from the ashes of its predecessor'.
In your case Cooper is the new pup's predecessor, his passing having left a space for another dobie.
Phoenix is also associated with long life. Here's a lovely poem called 'The Phoenix who survived' by Dean Fraser-Phillips:
Rising from the ashes, you spread your wings tofly
Reaching now for those final dreams, belief will never die
Beautiful andsoglorious, the eternal bird offire
Soaringup intothe sun, leaving behind the pyre
Dreams are now your destiny;reach with all your might
You’re a powerful inferno,ablaze andinfull flight
Yesterday isover,todayhasjustbegun
The sky is now your playground your home is now the sun
Destiny isinyour grasp, forgetthe doubts and fears
Your flame will burneternallyfor all remaining years
There will be times of doubt, andmomentsofpure sorrow
But one thing thatisever true, you’re the angel oftomorrow Poem - The Phoenix who survived - Deanthebard | Deanthebard |

Thank you so much, you have brought tears to my eyes and a warmth to my heart... I knew a pheonix was a firebird of sorts that arose from the ashes, but I never really had drawn that connection... As I write this I am looking at the urn of Coopers ashes that sit on my dresser, along with his paw print and his favorite ball... |
