| He is beautiful! and his ears look great. If you don't mind me asking where did that big white marking come from? I have never personally seen a pure dobie with white markings. And sitting in the 70's range... you must be feeding him the small children down the street
Such a handsome boy.

| What is he mixed with to be 72lbs at 5.5 months?! Just wondering, cuz my boy is only about 65lbs, and he is 7.5months old. Granted, he has not been weighed in a few weeks, so I'm kind of guestimating. He very well could be closer to 70, but still wow!
but yeah, Holy crap, what a big boy! He's very pretty too

I am surprised to see a mixed dog with cropped ears, I did not know vets will do that. |

| we have been feeding him orjin for the past 2 months or so before that we were back and forth in between brands. here n there he gets an raw egg and shell mixed in his food
some cheese and once in a while u gets to snack out of his moms greek yogurt.
oh and he gets fed 3 times a day but for the past week or so he hasnt been finishing up all of his dinner at once but comes back to it.
hes not fat at all either its all muscle!!!
the vet said hes super healthy and still got some more growing to do!!!!
we were worried that he was over weight but the vet eased our minds that hes fine.
as for his mix. we were told he was dobe and bulldog. hes kind of a rescue if anything because he was taken away by his original owner at 6 weeks from the breeder. but then he realized he couldn't afford or give the dog the necessities of life for the dog so we offered him some cash and took riko off his hands (he was in rough shape) we tracked down the original breeder and she said it was a mistake that here dobe got pregnant with a british bulldog. mistake or not she said she didnt have any pics or contact info of the owner of the bulldog.
Everyone thats seen riko said hes looks full dobey to them as well :S |

| Handsome boy! However, I also think he looks pure Dobe, just not a very well bred one. She's got to be kidding about the Bulldog mix... he looks nothing like it. |

I don't know about the weight range in the Canadian (I'm assuming your profile is referring to Toronto in Canada) standard, but the FCI (international) standard specifies a maximum of 99 pounds for a male Dobe. At the rate your boy is going, it looks like he will end up heavier than that.
The other thing is the white streak on his chest which someone else mentioned is only allowed as a tiny spot in the AKC standard, and not at all in the FCI standard. I suppose some BYBs consider a white mark unique and a selling point, but it is an undesirable trait according to the standard and thus serious breeders try to breed away from it. |

ohhhh okay i thought u meant that you seen something wrong with him physically or something lol
i just like the pup when we first seen him and wanted to give him a better life. but after joing DT and meeting Dapples Rudy im really considering getting a red dobey from a good breeder once riko is house broken or a Argentine Dogo !!!!
i had no idea how great of an animal dobermans really are until i found this site lol |

| Riko is very cute, and from the sounds of it a big boy! I would also certainly say he is 100% doberman, no doubt about that to me. He just happens to have a little more white than we are used to seeing.
According to the AKC standard dogs are allowed to have up to 1/2" square white patch on the chest. It's not uncommon to see dogs with a white patch or a few white hairs on the chest. Riko just has a little extra! It gives him some character.
He probably has the most white I have ever seen, but it is merely just an exaggeration of the chest patch. The way I understand it is that as an embryo the pigment producing cells migrate through out the body. The chest, toes, and tail tip are some of the last places they reach. If there is a delay or disruption in distribution of the pigmentation the white spots will appear in one of these areas.
You will also see puppies who will loose their white spots as they grow.

My Jaina happens to have a little white toe, and I know for a fact she's a purebred (I'm assuming that's part of why she was sold as a companion vs. to a breeder). And the girl I nearly brought home also had some white on her chest. A huge patch like Riko's is a DQ in a conformation show, but not a DQ at being a pure.
Besides, if anything, he seems like he's "pure awesome!"

He very well could be a mix of a dobe and a bulldog(american, not english, obviously!). I've seen litters of mutts from different purebred parents and some looked almost identical to the purebred parent they favored while others looked like heinz 57s. Can you get photos of his littermates? |
